Job Description

Be part of what makes us different.

In this leadership role, you’ll partner with the Store Manager and Front-End Specialist to bring Farm Boy’s vision of delivering the best fresh shopping experience to life. You’ll take ownership of front-end operations while building a high-performing, engaged team that provides outstanding service to every customer. Through coaching, collaboration, and strong operational oversight, you’ll help create a store environment rooted in trust, teamwork, and excellence. Here are some of the other ways you’ll help us stand out:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service while supporting Farm Boy’s vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager and Front-End Specialist to execute strategies that achieve business goals and operational success.
  • Build a culture of trust and engagement through one-on-one coaching and regular team huddles that share goals, celebrate wins, exchange product knowledge, and encourage feedback.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and motivate a high-performing front-end team through interviewing, performance reviews, coaching, recognition, and ongoing development — all while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and trust.
  • Safeguard financial integrity through effective safe management, documentation, and record retention, overseeing refunds, cashier over/short reporting, and float audits.
  • Promote compliance with company policies and government regulations as communicated through management meetings, operational manuals, employee handbooks, and written directives.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to all Safe Food Handling and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee daily front-end operations and deliverables including cash service, overrides, cart retrieval, scheduling, payroll support, and overall department cleanliness.
  • Participate in store coverage rotation as Manager on Duty, including opening and closing procedures and emergency response support, as required.
  • Manage Floral Department operations, including merchandising, ordering, inventory control, and financial performance
  • Contribute to overall store success by undertaking additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table.

We provide the opportunity, and you bring the potential.

  • A genuine passion for delivering engaging and exceptional customer service.
  • Completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory or management experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve, and Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or a commitment to complete all required certifications within six months.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment while effectively managing priorities and maintaining a high standard of performance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, supported by solid mathematical aptitude.
  • Clear, confident, and effective communication style, with demonstrated experience engaging, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Comfort learning and working with both manual and automated systems, along with experience using various computer software applications.
  • Thrive in a hands-on setting that involves extended periods of standing, heavy lifting, repetitive movement or tasks, and work that may be performed in cooler, freezer, and outdoor conditions.
  • Flexibility to work a dynamic schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills considered an asset.

What we bring to the table.

At Farm Boy, we believe in supporting our Team Members throughout their careers. Whether, it’s at our Home Office or our stores, we’re proud to stand out in the market as a workplace that offers:

  • Comprehensive benefit program and coverage that varies by position.
  • Coverage may include healthcare, dental care, disability coverage, life insurance and registered retirement savings program.
  • A 10% discount on in-store purchases.
  • On-the-job training and the prioritization of internal promotions to help you grow and embrace new opportunities.
  • The opportunity to support local neighbourhoods through our community programs.
  • This role is eligible to participate in the Farm Boy incentive program.
