Job description

REPORTS TO: Manager of Development Planning LOCATION: Initial Placement – Paris Customer Service Office Minimum Qualifications: Post-secondary diploma in Urban Design, Urban and Regional Planning or related field.

Two (2) years relevant work experience, in a planning, building and/or engineering related setting.

Excellent customer service, organizational, report writing, communication, presentation, conflict resolution skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Working knowledge of Zoning By-Laws, Official Plans, municipal planning processes, planning principles and applicable legislation (including Planning Act, Provincial Planning Statement and Guidelines).

Demonstrated tact and diplomacy skills and the ability to exercise discretion and judgment when handling confidential information.

Proficient in Adobe Reader and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.

Advanced time management and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication skills, including verbal and written.

Demonstrated safe work practices.

Valid G driver’s license and/or the ability to travel for site visits and between County offices and facilities as required .

Assets: Experience working within a Planning Division in a municipal setting.

Knowledge interpreting, administering development within the Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) framework.

Membership, or candidate membership, in Ontario Professional Planning Institute (OPPI) and/or Canadian Association of Certified Planning Technicians (CACPT).

Experience utilizing City View software or similar electronic planning/ building permit processing software.

Duties: Provide technical interpretation, review, advice, and recommendation for all planning applications (including consent, minor variances, zoning amendments, site plan control, related agreements, or the Community Planning Permit System (CPPS) framework).

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $70,816 - $82,846 (Grade 5) 35 hours per week The application deadline is 9:00 a.m.
