Armco continues to grow—both in business diversification, development, and its team of dedicated professionals.

The Assistant System Administrator role is to help the system administrator in ensuring the stability and integrity of company server and storage services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing hardware and software technology utilized across the organization. In addition, the System Administrator will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all servers, storage, and related hardware infrastructure. This individual will also analyze and resolve server hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user and departmental training where required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide tier 1, 2, and 3 technical support.
  • Proficiency in Veeam backup and restore software to complete successful backups, test restore procedures and ensure off premise copies of all data.
  • Tracking helpdesk requests and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Assist the System Administrator in the following: Review and analyze preliminary Disaster Recovery requirements and work with team members to identify restrictions or limitations. Ensure hardware and software integrity and monitoring, tune virtual environments to ensure performance standards, and avoid downtime of business-critical systems. Recognize issues and make appropriate recommendations to ensure no interruptions to business processes. Research and evaluate new technologies; communicate technical specifications, procedures, and solutions to non-technical decision makers. Maintain a broad awareness of company direction and IT policy. Assist with special projects as required. Mentor and assist junior IT staff members. Coordinate work with Managed Service Providers and other IT service partners and contractors.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ experience working in the IT field in a similar role.
  • In depth knowledge of Windows Server environments.
  • Experience with hypervisors and virtual machines.
  • Experience with the administration of email and office productivity software.
  • Experience with backup software and infrastructure.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment, multi-task, and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the United States as required.

Armco is proud to have been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for nine consecutive years — a reflection of our commitment to growth, a passion for our people, and creating a supportive workplace. As a company that’s always evolving, we value people who are adaptable, bring a positive attitude, and are motivated to grow and reach their goals. If you’re someone who pays attention to the details, enjoys finding new and better ways of doing things, and thrives in a team environment, we’d love to hear from you — please submit your resume.
