Controls Programmer – TIA Portal & Ford FAST (Windsor / Essex Area)

An opportunity is available for an experienced Controls Programmer in the Windsor / Essex area to support the commissioning of 8 test machines followed by production support at a high-volume automotive manufacturing plant .

This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in Siemens PLC programming , specifically using TIA Portal , and proven experience with Ford FAST standards. The position requires on-site support at the Ford Engine Plant and involves working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure all equipment is properly commissioned and supported through early production phases.

Key Responsibilities :

Execute commissioning of 8 automated test machines , ensuring full integration into the plant's production systems
Program, configure, and troubleshoot Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal
Implement and adhere to Ford FAST programming guidelines and documentation requirements
Provide production support post-commissioning, addressing control system issues and maintaining machine reliability
Conduct testing, validation , and debugging of PLC and HMI systems to ensure optimal performance
Collaborate with plant engineers, technicians, and operators to support a smooth production launch

Required Skills & Experience :

Proficiency in TIA Portal for programming and troubleshooting Siemens PLCs (e.g., S7-1200, S7-1500)

Direct experience working with Ford FAST standards in a Ford automotive facility

Proven ability to commission automated test machines and support their integration into production

Strong understanding of industrial automation , control systems , and HMI development

Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings , ladder logic , and system documentation

Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on system reliability and downtime reduction

Must be available to work on-site in Windsor / Essex during commissioning and production phases

Preferred Qualifications :

Prior experience in end-of-line testing systems for engines or powertrain components

Familiarity with safety PLCs , machine safety protocols , and industrial networking

Experience with production support and troubleshooting in a high-volume automotive environment
