This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Compensation Range: 20.00 - 24.00 CAD

This is a current vacant position.

Work Location: This is a full-time onsite co-op position based in Burnaby, BC. Candidates must be able to work from our Burnaby office for the duration of the work term.

Job Purpose

As part of the EnerSys Energy Systems business, Alpha Technologies is a leader in the design and manufacture of powering solutions for the telecommunications, broadband, traffic, security, medical, industrial, and renewable energy industries. Our portfolio of innovative power solutions is designed to meet the evolving needs of customers worldwide. Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a DV & Compliance Co-op Intern to support compliance testing and product certification activities. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will assist in ensuring that new and existing products meet applicable safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements for the global markets in which our products are sold. Responsibilities may include conducting in-house functional validation and pre-compliance testing, coordinating third-party laboratory testing, supporting certification activities, and witnessing compliance testing as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with DV technologist or Compliance engineer on regular projects or special request assigned.
  • Support on the Design Validation or Compliance testing setup
  • Conduct the test following the test plan (under the supervision of the assigned engineer)
  • Continuously learn the safety/EMC standards assigned (be able to apply the right testing procedure and Criteria)
  • Support for the 3rd party lab testing setup
  • Analyze the test data and provide the feedback to our internal customers.
  • Work on the test plan / report documentation.
  • Attend the safety audit or lab supporting tasks.
  • Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement & 5S within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Third- or fourth-year Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology student.
  • Available for a 4- or 8-month work term.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Experience using test equipment and instrumentation, such as power analyzers, oscilloscopes, programmable AC/DC power sources, and load banks.
  • Experience testing power supply or other electronic products preferred.
  • Experience working with third-party testing laboratories preferred.
  • Good understanding of PCBAs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Good understanding of product assembly drawings.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to review and interpret complex technical documentation.
