As one of the largest employee‑owned companies in the world, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver exceptional outcomes through our network of 20,000+ talented consultants. With sustainability and innovation at the heart of all our sectors in North America, including Buildings, Energy, Transportation, and Water.

We believe in empowering our people to excel, learn, and grow, offering diverse opportunities to contribute to career‑defining work. Join us and be part of a collaborative environment where your ambitions are united with ours, and you can truly shape your story.

The Mott MacDonald’s Canadian Rail Systems team is looking to hire adaptable and self‑motivated Systems Integration Engineers to enhance our Systems Engineering groups in Vancouver and Toronto.

As rail and transit projects increase in complexity, there is an ever‑increasing need for the application of the Systems Engineering process to ensure these projects can be delivered successfully. Systems Integration is a key discipline, fundamental to the delivery of system‑engineering‑driven, high‑quality projects in a data‑rich, digital environment.

Working within Mott MacDonald’s multi‑discipline Systems Engineering and System Assurance (SESA) team, the Systems Integration Engineer is core to ensuring the systems‑of‑interest are successfully deployed into rail and transit projects for our clients.

The Role

To ensure MMCL’s interface and integration activities contribute to the success of our system engineering work, you will work within a multi‑discipline team of engineering professionals and technical staff in the development, delivery and setting‑to‑work of railway monitoring and control systems within MM’s North American rail and rail‑related projects.

You will undertake the identification and analysis of intra‑system data exchange along with system‑to‑system and system‑to‑infrastructure interfaces that support the integrated railway. Authoring and managing ICFs and ICDs, you will use your experience, skills and knowledge in ensuring customer needs and requirements are met in the deployed system.

Working alongside Requirements Management resources, System Engineers and System Assurance personnel, you will manage the successful development and deployment of integrated systems in both greenfield and brownfield environments.

  • Integration of Rail Systems into overall light rail, urban transit and heavy rail projects

  • Assist in the commissioning and setting‑to‑work of Rail Control systems
  • Actively support the development of bids
  • Support construction activities from the office and in the field
  • Interact with, and directly support, colleagues across Mott MacDonald
  • Engage with end clients as needed

Candidate Specifications

  • P.Eng. in Alberta, BC or Ontario or able to register
  • Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in the integration of systems, preferably in rail and transit or other public infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrable experience in the development or deployment of complex systems

  • Knowledge of railway systems and / or operation within infrastructure projects / technology development and implementation projects
  • Broad experience delivering within major infrastructure projects
  • Personal Values

  • Act as a role model for Mott MacDonald’s vision and values, behaving in ways that are aligned with corporate procedures
  • Take responsibility for your own and others' health and safety, especially mental health and well‑being, by adhering to corporate and project health and safety rules
  • Maintain a professional, courteous and cooperative relationship with team members and stakeholders, fostering trust and respect
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and adopt appropriate behavior when interacting with colleagues
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorized disclosure, modification or destruction, never knowingly putting Mott MacDonald information at risk
