Position Type: Full-time Permanent

About Solaris Management Consultants Inc.

Solaris Management Consultants Inc. (Solaris) delivers engineering and project management services for the energy industry across North America and the globe. Our work covers traditional and transitional energy solutions, including Natural Gas, LNG, Hydrogen, and Low-carbon assets. We deliver predictable outcomes through disciplined front-end planning, construction-led designs, and data-driven controls. With more than 31 years of experience and a portfolio of 5,000+ projects, our in-house multidisciplinary teams help clients move from concept to commissioning with confidence.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Project Engineer to join our growing engineering consulting team supporting clients across the energy sector. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer with strong technical expertise and project execution skills who thrives in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordination for a variety of E/I/C focused projects (Capital Projects and O&M), including MCC upgrades, Electrical Building modifications / additions, power generation, control system upgrades, substations, and station expansions. You will work closely with clients, vendors and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions from concept through detailed design, construction, and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary liaison between the Project Manager, clients, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to support projects across natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, and related energy infrastructure
  • Lead coordination of electrical engineering scope, including planning, scheduling, and delivery of design packages to meet project objectives for quality, cost, and timeline
  • Develop, review, and approve electrical engineering deliverables (e.g., single line diagrams, MCC layouts, cable schedules, electrical layouts), ensuring compliance with client specifications, applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Support project planning and execution by contributing to scope definition, cost estimates, budgets, equipment sizing/selection, and technical evaluations
  • Coordinate closely with mechanical, civil, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated and constructible design solutions
  • Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to interpret technical requirements, evaluate proposals, resolve design issues, and support procurement activities to ensure materials and equipment meet specifications and delivery schedules
  • Participate in design and safety reviews (e.g., HAZOP/PHA), ensuring technical accuracy, quality, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements
  • Review and oversee the work of junior engineers, designers, and support staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of engineering outputs
  • Support construction and commissioning activities, including field inspections, troubleshooting, and site coordination as required
  • Recommend and implement improvements to engineering standards, design practices, and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve maintainability
  • Prepare and review technical documentation and, where applicable, sign and stamp engineering deliverables in accordance with professional registration requirements
  • Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within the energy sector (e.g., natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, or industrial facilities)
  • EIT or P.Eng. designation (EGBC) preferred or eligibility for registration; candidates actively pursuing licensure will be considered
  • Experience working in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) or consulting environment is strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including power distribution, motor control, and industrial electrical systems, along with applicable codes and standards (CEC, CSA, IEEE)
  • Experience in equipment specification and integration, including systems such as generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, drives (VFDs/ASDs), and related industrial equipment
  • Familiarity with process and facility systems (e.g., compression, gas processing, LNG systems) and exposure to multidisciplinary design environments is an asset
  • Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD (experience with power system analysis software such as ETAP or SKM is an asset)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage engineering deliverables, coordinate project activities, and support budgets and schedules
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical decisions in a project environment
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across teams and interface directly with clients and vendors
  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety (HSE), and continuous improvement
  • Field, construction, or commissioning experience is considered a strong asset
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required

Demeanor Required:

  • Strategic: Understands the broader business landscape and how people strategy drives results.
  • Proactive: Anticipates needs and challenges, providing timely, pragmatic solutions.
  • Collaborative: Builds trust with executives, technical professionals, and HR peers alike.
  • Resilient: Remains composed under pressure and navigates complex dynamics with confidence.
  • Inclusive: Values diverse perspectives and contributes to a culture of respect and belonging.
  • Professional Presence: Communicates with credibility, maturity, and warmth at all organizational levels.
