At ActiveState, we help organizations manage and secure the open source code they use. Our platform is ambitious : catalog, understand, evaluate all of the open source in the world. This includes securely building software from start to finish.

As an Engineering Manager at ActiveState, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing the strategic direction of your team. You will define what success looks like, develop actionable plans, and ensure their execution while fostering a culture of growth and development. Your ability to translate strategic vision into measurable goals is key to our success. You are focused on results.

As a leader in our engineering division, you will develop and communicate the overall strategic direction for your team, define clear and measurable objectives that align with company goals, and influence and guide the technical direction of the company to ensure alignment with overall strategy. You make, communicate, and refine plans.

As a manager, you will directly manage a team of developers, coaching them on their growth and career development, especially to identify and leverage their strengths. You will implement a plan for building a high-performing team through careful planning and delegation. Because you know the importance of communication and collaboration, especially in a team distributed throughout the US and Canada, you achieve goals through cooperation.

As an experienced technical manager, you will use your knowledge to encourage your team to build and refine tools, data, and processes. As you work closely with product managers to evaluate, plan, and design new features to drive the development of new features, prioritizing them based on technical requirements and business needs. You are driven by data.

Above all, your ability to deliver results is crucial to our success. You plan a project, define what good means, rally the team, and hold you and your team accountable to deliver what you promised. You make and meet the right commitments.

Requirements

Management experience : you have successfully managed a team of 5 - 7 software engineers of varied skill levels, achieving their personal goals as well as business outcomes, holding people accountable for quality and results.
