Position Overview:

Position Title: Surveyor

Employment Type: Term (1-year)

As a member of the Mine Technical Services (MTS) and Projects team, Surveyors will report to the Senior Engineer, Mine Technical Services and work two (2) weeks on, two (2) weeks off rotations at the Ekati mine site (day shifts only). The successful candidate will become a valued member of the MTS team, supporting the underground and surface operations and progressive closure activities as required. Our flight hubs are located in Calgary, AB, Yellowknife, NT, and Hay River, NT.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Attend daily operations and MTS Line up Meetings
  • Complete as-built surveys of underground workings and surface pits / construction
  • Mark-up layouts as required to support UG development and production drilling on both surface and UG.
  • Mark-up diamond drill holes, test and service holes as required
  • Issue survey prints to underground operations and development team
  • Special projects as required (cave scans, steel set prism surveys) Line and grade, water levels
  • Maintain site status maps for all active and inactive surface and underground and surface infrastructure
  • Month end survey including stockpile and crushed inventory volumes
  • Month end volume calculations as required
  • Year end land disturbance survey and reporting
  • Update asbuilt Vulcan software layers
  • Support UG Vent technician with regular vent surveys as required
  • Support Env Tech with instrumentation readings as required
  • Ability to work alone with limited direct supervision

Education/Experience:

  • Diploma in surveying or geomatics or Tertiary Qualification in Geomatics Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Drone pilots license or experience towards being licensed
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mine surveying and/or equivalent experience in construction surveying
  • Experience with Total Stations and GPS
  • Class-5 driver’s license
  • Experience with CAD based software (Vulcan), Point Cloud, Agisoft or other drone data processing software.
