Job description
Radiation Protection TechnicianWe are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Radiation Protection Technician to join our Environmental Remediation team. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety and compliance of our operations with radiation protection standards and regulations. As a Radiation Protection Technician, you will be responsible for conducting radiation surveys, monitoring work environments, and ensuring that all safety protocols are adhered to. You will work closely with various departments to assess radiation exposure levels and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks. In addition to fieldwork, you will be involved in data analysis and reporting, helping to develop safety training programs and procedures. This position requires a strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a commitment to upholding safety standards in all aspects of your work. This role is based out of Port Hope, Ontario.

What You Will Be Working On

· Conduct regular radiation surveys and monitoring of work environments to ensure compliance with safety standards.

· Maintain and calibrate radiation detection equipment to ensure accuracy in measurements.

· Prepare detailed reports on radiation levels and safety compliance assessments.

· Assist in the development and implementation of radiation safety training programs for staff.

· Provide support in risk assessments related to radiation exposure and emergency response planning.

· Respond to and investigate any incidents involving radiation exposure, providing recommendations for corrective actions.

What We Are Looking For

· Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, or related field preferred. College Diploma in Radiation Safety Program will be considered.

· Certification as a Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or similar certification is highly desirable.

· Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations, protocols, and standards.

· Proficiency in operating and maintaining radiation detection and monitoring equipment.

· Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for data analysis and reporting.

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey safety information effectively.

· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
