Purpose of Position :
Hexagon Mining is seeking an intern with experience and strong interest at the intersection of market intelligence, AI, and product management. This role will focus on building foundational capabilities that connect external market data, internal commercial systems, and emerging AI tools to create new strategic insights for sales, product management, and M&A. This is a 0-to-1 role. The intern will help design and prototype a market intelligence platform that unifies data from multiple internal and external sources, while exploring how AI and automation can enhance competitive intelligence, market sizing, and product fit analysis. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys ambiguity, systems thinking, and creating something new that delivers real business value-not just analysis for analysis' sake.
Major Areas of Responsibility :
- Collaborate with stakeholders across sales, product, strategy, and finance to understand requirements and iterate on solutions
- Design and document a model centered around assets that unifies internal and external data sources * Integrate and reconcile data across :
- External market intelligence sources
- Internal CRM and ERP Systems
- Develop logic and tooling to :
- Match and reconcile entities across systems
- Flag data gaps, inconsistencies, and confidence levels
- Prototype AI-enabled market intelligence workflows, such as :
- Ingesting and analyzing publicly available technical reports, filings, and disclosures
- Identifying competitive product usage or technology signals where publicly disclosed
- Ingesting and analyzing internal available data
- Support product management and commercial use cases, including :
- Identifying "best-fit" assets for specific products based on attributes and market signals
- Enabling account managers to capture and contextualize competitive intelligence
- Build analytical outputs to support market sizing (TAM / SAM / SOM) and M&A screening
- Clearly document assumptions, logic, and limitations to ensure transparency and future extensibility
Knowledge and Experience - Required :
- Currently enrolled in an MBA or Master's program in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong working knowledge of SQL (required)
- Experience using Python for data analysis and transformation
- Familiarity with AI tools and techniques (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, automated document analysis), even if primarily through applied coursework or projects
- Experience working with messy, real-world datasets and ambiguous problem statements
Knowledge and Experience - Desired :
- Experience with data modeling, entity resolution, or record matching
- Exposure to enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, or financial datasets
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Tableau, PowerBI)
- Interest or background in industrial, natural resources, energy, or mining sectors
- Prior experience in product management, strategy, consulting, or market intelligence roles

- A combination of office / remote work is acceptable, however it is preferred that candidates are comfortable with travelling to our Vancouver office 1-2 days per week at a minimum.
