Job description
My client is a specialized environmental consultancy operating at the intersection of regulatory strategy, Indigenous engagement, and community-centered impact assessment. 100% Canadian-owned and operated, the firm is known for its collaborative, solutions-focused approach to complex environmental and socio-economic challenges across Canada’s resource, infrastructure, and energy sectors. With deep expertise in environmental assessments and permitting, they support clients through critical project milestones—building trust with regulators, Indigenous Nations, and communities along the way.

They are currently seeking a Hydrogeologist to support the delivery of high-quality, science-based water resource projects across Canada. This role is focused on delivering practical, defensible groundwater work across a range of projects, including infrastructure, natural resources, and water management. The position is suited to a hydrogeologist who is comfortable working across field programs, data interpretation, and reporting, and who is building toward greater technical ownership over time.

Remote / WFH / Hybrid: 100% Remote anywhere in BC, AB or SK

Travel/Fieldwork: 20% (western Canada, YT, NWT)

Salary: $85k - $115k, plus health benefits, RRSP matching, annual bonuses (The final salary will reflect the qualifications, relevant experience, expertise, and professional designations that each candidate brings to the role. Individuals who offer additional strengths or bring exceptional value to the team will be considered for compensation beyond the stated range, as our client recognizes and rewards unique contributions.)

  • Interpret hydrogeological data and support the development of clear, defensible conclusions

Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Support the design and implementation of groundwater monitoring programs
  • Analyze monitoring data to identify trends and potential risks
  • Prepare clear, well-structured reports for regulatory and client use
Field Investigations:
  • Plan and participate in field programs, including drilling oversight, well installation, hydraulic testing, and groundwater sampling
  • Maintain a hands-on role in fieldwork
  • Ensure data collection aligns with project objectives and quality standards
Project Support and Collaboration:
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery
  • Contribute to technical problem-solving and project execution
  • Build toward increasing responsibility in technical scope and project contribution over timeng.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of progressive consulting experience in hydrogeology for mining, natural resource, or environmental projects
  • Registered or immediately eligible for P.Geo. or P.Eng. in Canada
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Geological Engineering, or related field
  • Strong field experience (e.g. drilling supervision, well installations, aquifer testing, safety leadership)
  • Proven ability to develop conceptual models, analyze data, and write high-quality technical reports
  • Effective communicator with strong time-management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with groundwater assessment, including quantity, quality, and conceptual model development
  • Experience with compliance monitoring programs and reporting
  • Willingness to remain engaged in fieldwork in the near term
  • Ability to interpret data and communicate findings clearly
  • Comfortable working independently with remote teams
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally
Nice to Have:
  • Environmental permitting experience
  • Mining-related hydrogeology experience, including pit dewatering or contribution to reclamation and closure planning
  • Water supply assessment experience
  • Numerical groundwater modelling experience
In addition to working on innovative, multidisciplinary projects that make a real impact, you’ll be part of a supportive and flexible work environment that prioritizes your growth and well-being. Benefits include the ability to work from home, a competitive compensation and benefits package, group RRSP options, and access to ongoing professional development through conference participation, mentoring, and on-the-job training. You’ll also enjoy regular company retreats, social events, and the opportunity to collaborate with a passionate team of professionals committed to excellence in environmental consulting.
