Job description
Project Engineer (8 Month Contract)Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.

This position is in Pickering, ON

What You Will Be Working On

  • Oversee the pricing of change orders, manage Requests for Information (RFIs), and review shop drawings. Ensure seamless coordination between sub-trades, suppliers, and the project team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent to reduce task overload and support high-level project oversight. Lead initiatives to streamline project execution.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement cost-effective strategies that optimize project delivery for large-scale industrial projects.
  • Prepare and regularly update project schedules in line with overall project goals. Maintain and adjust the project budget and cost reports to reflect progress during construction phases.
  • Proactively identify, address, and resolve project challenges related to site conditions, scheduling, and design. Ensure that issues are managed swiftly to avoid delays or budget overruns.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, sub-trades, and suppliers, ensuring clear communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental standards meet both legislative requirements and company policy. Support on-site safety teams in maintaining a zero-incident culture.
  • Monitor and support change order pricing, ensuring that all changes are properly tracked, evaluated, and approved to maintain cost integrity.
  • Manage the coordination and approval of shop drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.

What We Are Looking For

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering

  • P.Eng designation is an asset

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Project Coordinator/Engineer or in similar roles within large industrial/nuclear projects, with a project value of $100 million or greater.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities under pressure, with the ability to foresee and solve challenges proactively in fast-paced environments.

  • Ability to cultivate strong working relationships with stakeholders, sub-trades, and team members, promoting collaboration and effective communication.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and analysis.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to present technical information clearly to a variety of audiences.

  • Demonstrated commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards, with alignment to the company's values and objectives.
