Job description
We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Technology Specialist/Developer for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Brampton. In this role, you will take on a premier technical capacity within the application migration and geographic information systems (GIS) streams, leading the complex architectural transition, modernization, and consolidation of distributed cloud ecosystems.

As a principal developer, you will bridge the gap between spatial data architectures and core enterprise transactional systems. Operating out of the Brampton office, you will engineer scalable web and mobile solutions, lead high-tier problem resolution, and design shared system components. This role demands an elite technical authority who can confidently refactor geospatial suites, map multi-platform interfaces, and provide expert mentorship to organizational engineering squads during mission-critical environment modernizations.

Location: Brampton, ON

Assignment Type: Onsite / Hybrid (As per business operations)

Contract Duration: 12 months

Advantages
Enterprise Integration Scope: Build and deploy web and mobile GIS applications seamlessly integrated across major enterprise suites, including EAM, CRM, and ERP platforms.

Modern Cloud Migration: Drive impactful cloud modernization initiatives by orchestrating complex platform migrations into high-availability architectures.

Architectural Influence: Partner directly with Solution and Enterprise Architects to deliver high-level blueprints covering both external design maps and complex backend software platforms.

Technical Leadership: Serve as a premier advisor and technical mentor to internal development squads, shaping best practices and reviewing modern code-base configurations.

Responsibilities
GIS Application Engineering: Design, develop, and implement high-quality web and mobile GIS software solutions integrated across multiple core enterprise applications and distributed business units.

Complex Problem Resolution: Provide senior-level technical diagnostics and root-cause analysis to resolve highly complex migration, interoperability, and system anomalies never encountered before.

Architectural Blueprint Alignment: Partner with client groups to confirm detailed architectures for complex solutions, mapping out interface navigation, front-end components, and backend system connectivity.

Platform Estimation & Scoping: Formulate expert development estimates, scoping recommendations, and configuration strategies for enterprise geospatial software suites.

Shared Component Engineering: Design and code reusable, shared application components to maximize engineering efficiency and standard delivery across all internal software teams.

Database & Schema Modification: Create and optimize complex spatial database structures, managing enterprise geodatabases and writing high-performance data queries.

Lifecycle Deployment Planning: Author comprehensive technical documentation, system deployment blueprints, backup-and-recovery procedures, and fallback contingency plans.

Multi-Tier Quality Validation: Prepare and execute rigorous system and integration test plans to validate software stability before implementing components into production environments.

Team Technical Mentorship: Guide, support, and mentor organizational developers through complex technical implementations, code reviews, and escalated infrastructure blocks.

Program Evolution Advisory: Monitor industry trends and present data-driven recommendations to leadership to continuously enhance application migration and development methodologies.

Qualifications
Core Technical & GIS Engineering Requirements
Geospatial Product Mastery: Extensive development and configuration experience across advanced enterprise software suites, including core utilities (ArcGIS 10/11.x, Desktop SDKs, ArcGIS Pro 3.x, and ArcGIS Enterprise platforms).

Programming & Scripting Fluency: High proficiency coding in multi-engine environments utilizing Python, Arcade, PowerBuilder, and Visual Studio (C++, VB, C#, ASP.NET).

Web Integration Stack: Hands-on mastery of industry-standard web languages and protocols, including JavaScript (ArcGIS JavaScript API), HTML5, XML, JSON, GeoJSON, and Web Services (SOAP/REST).

Database Administration Depth: Strong operational experience executing structured database development utilizing SQL and Enterprise Geodatabases on SQL Server.

Systems Architecture Acumen: In-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of Object-Oriented Design (OOD/OOP), Unified Modeling Language (UML), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and model-driven systems design.

Network & Interface Integration: Extensive knowledge of integrating highly complex applications across desktop environments, modern web browsers, and local/wide area networks (LAN/WAN).

Preferred Assets & Tools
Esri Specializations: Direct experience handling advanced suite utilities (such as ArcGIS Online/Enterprise Assistant, Survey123, and Experience Builder) alongside familiarity with VertiGIS architectures (Web Studio / Network Explorer).

Cloud & DevOps Delivery: Foundational knowledge of high-availability cloud computing frameworks within Microsoft Azure and release management using Azure DevOps tools.

Industry Credentials: Professional certifications on enterprise GIS products or Microsoft Azure cloud development/administration are considered strong technical assets.

Education & Team Leadership
Education: University or college graduate in Computer Science, Geography, or a related quantitative discipline, backed by a post-bachelor certificate or advanced diploma in Application Development or GIS.

Team Guidance Tenure: Minimum of five (5) years of dedicated experience providing technical guidance, operational support, and professional mentorship to cross-functional engineering teams.

Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and consulting capabilities, with outstanding verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical specifications clearly.
