Job Description

The Quality department is seeking an intern who is looking to take advantage of a unique opportunity to develop their career while contributing directly to the growth of an emerging innovative company. YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Upon your arrival, you will support the Quality team in EAB. You will report to the Laboratory Manager. This is an opportunity to collaborate with them as you enrich your career and work on Enerkem’s unique and disruptive technology.

Your role and responsibilities will be the following :

  • Provide logistical and technical support for laboratory activities, and perform maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting for lab related equipment
  • Provide training to new Lab Technicians in relation to policy, safety, orientation / training on analytical testing methods, QA / QC program, procedures, corrective, and preventive actions
  • Identify improvement opportunities for lab productivity
  • Ensuring that all analysis, data results, and procedures are held to the standard of the quality manual and recorded as such
  • Ensure proper safety practice and safety communication with the lab personnel
  • Coordinate shipping and tracking sample for external lab testing requests
  • Ensure communication with the lab staff, tracking and proper document records of external lab results
  • Analyze samples using complex equipment, update, and maintain lab testing requests
  • Record data results, certificate of analysis of chemical products and external lab results
  • Provide technical and expertise to support the plant wastewater laboratory with inventory, maintenance, and equipment calibration
  • Responsible of inventory, order, and tracking laboratory supplies; and record laboratory purchases
  • Report to the supervisor any non-conformities and problems encountered through lab analysis
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards of quality and safety at work.
  • Ability to understand and follow all safety, environmental, quality, and operational procedures and policies are primary responsibilities
  • Qualifications

  • Must be student and eligible for Co-op Program
  • 2nd or 3rd year student in Chemistry or Biochemistry
  • Available to work 8 or 16 months as Co-op student, starting January 2024
  • Enjoy solving problems and proposing creative solutions;
  • Experience in the heavy industry (preferably petrochemical) an asset;
  • Enjoy working in a team in a dynamic environment;
  • Be able to manage several mandates with little supervision;
  • Have a critical thinking mindset;
  • Be rigorous, autonomous and responsible;
  • Strong technical understanding of Chemistry fundamentals
  • Hold a driver's license and be able to move around (an asset).
  • This is 7 ON 7 OFF Rotating schedule and requires nightshift.
