Forge Recruitment is proudly partnered with our client, a national, award-winning firm, specialized in labour and employment law in their search for an Associate Director of Human Resources to support with setting strategic human resources initiatives to their growing practice.

This is an 18-month transitional role leading toward the Director, Human Resources and Administration role.

About the Role

The incumbent will be expected to :

  • Work in conjunction with the COO / Executive Committee to ensure alignment between HR and administration initiatives and needs with firm objectives, to uphold and maintain core values, and to enhance the overall employee experience.
  • Deliver comprehensive HR support to both support staff and lawyers across five Ontario offices, offering strategic guidance on the broad spectrum of HR matters, including recruitment, onboarding, training, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, total rewards, workforce planning, succession planning, change management, leadership development, career path management, policy development, and health and safety.
  • Responsible for ensuring firm policies and procedures remain legislatively compliant.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues through thorough investigation and effective conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with COO and Senior Leadership Team to support strategic growth planning, including resource allocation and organizational structure optimization, championing EDI efforts, firm wide.
  • Demonstrate an ability to streamline firm processes (not limited to HR and administration) to increase efficacy across organization.
  • Demonstrate strong project management skills necessary to prepare and effectively deliver detailed operational plans for the HR and administration portfolio, leveraging appropriate firm resources through influence for the delivery of such plans, while ensuring adherence to firm policies and procedures.
  • Understand stakeholder needs, providing exemplary service to stakeholder in all respects while fostering and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Spearheading recruitment efforts to identify and attract top tier talent.
  • Oversee compensation structures, pay policies, performance appraisal systems, and collaborate with Manager, Human Resources to develop and optimize use of employee benefits and wellness programs.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to department managers and staff across the firm.
  • Prepare various reports for the Executive Committee.
  • Review bi-weekly payroll for support staff, associates and students, with Human Resources Manager.
  • Review day-to-day operational issues with Facilities Lead and support the Facilities lead on staffing of Document Production Team.
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned, including event planning and records management support.

What You Bring

As the ideal candidate, you possess 10+ years' experience supporting the Human Resources function of an organization or professional services firm.

You possess an undergraduate degree or equivalent experience to successfully complete the essential requirements of the role and a CHRL is considered an asset.

You possess the ability to analyze, synthesize and manage complex information with a proven track record for problem solving.

Excellent written and oral communication, coupled with strong organizational skills and sound professional judgment are pivotal to the success in this role.

You are versed in the entire MS Office Suite. Vendor management experience considered an asset.
