What is the opportunity?

The Lead, Data Science Strategy & Initiatives , will be a key player in shaping the future of Wealth Management Canada by leveraging advanced data science techniques and artificial intelligence to gain insights, optimize operations, and enhance the overall advisor and client experience.

This role sits at the intersection of technology and business, providing a unique opportunity to influence both sectors.

This role entails leading a dynamic team of AI experts and collaborating across various departments to integrate AI and machine learning into core business processes.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in AI and machine learning, alongside strong leadership, strategic vision, and project management skills.

The Head of Analytics and Innovation will spearhead the firm’s AI and machine learning initiatives, driving the development and deployment of innovative solutions to solve complex business challenges.

They should be able to navigate the complexity of working in a highly governed environment while at the same time enabling the team to carry out their work seamlessly.

What will you do?

Team Leadership :

Drive the enablement for the Data and AI team to innovate and explore including access to data and an ML / AI environment

Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts

Strategic Vision :

Help develop and execute a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with the overall business objectives and goals while working closely with cross-functional teams (IT, product, marketing, finance, etc.

to leverage data insights for strategic decision-making.

AI Innovation :

Spearhead initiatives to personalize the advisor and client journey through AI-driven recommendations, personalized insights, and enhanced user experiences.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in data science and artificial intelligence to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.

Technology Integration :

Collaborate with broader RBC IT and Data Science teams to ensure seamless integration of data science applications and AI solutions into existing systems and processes.

Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data infrastructure and analytics platforms.

Design, develop, implement and support our emerging big data analytics capabilities through the development and maintenance of advanced data ingestion, processing, modeling and reporting capabilities.

What do you need to succeed?

Must haves :

Educational Background :

Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience :

10+ years of experience in data science, AI, or analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Technical Skills :

Proven experience in applying AI and machine learning to real-world business problems and driving measurable outcomes.

Strong proficiency in data analytics, machine learning, statistical modeling, and big data technologies.

Communication Skills :

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have :

Previous work experience in the Banking industry preferably in Wealth Management
