Reporting to the Supervisor, Billing Compliance and Manager, Billing Compliance, the Billing Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting in all phases of intake and client billing requirements. This is a detail-oriented position with an emphasis on tenacity, time management / organizational skills, technical tasks and interpersonal skills.
Major Responsibilities :
- Determine appropriate rates to use on client and / or matter to ensure they are consistent with engagement letters or previously negotiated agreements
- Ensure accurate and timely set up and maintenance of client / matter rates and budgets in both the accounting system and 3rd party ebilling platforms, as well as special fee arrangements in a Rates Database
- Liaise with clients on rate submissions through 3rd party ebilling platforms and resolve outstanding issues regarding same
- Implement Client Rate Renewals
- Apply approved changes to timekeeper rates throughout the year
- Liaise with Pricing and Legal Project Management team to obtain new rates and client / matter agreements and ensure submission is completed prior to deadline
- Expert in rates management structures in Aderant that supports the billing process and provides guidance to the Billing and e-Billing team
- Respond to routine questions and provide information regarding rates and special fee arrangements
- Maintain and update training documentation and recordings pertinent to administration of billing rate and special fee arrangements
- Communicate and interact effectively with peers, management, external vendors, and contacts at all levels of the organization
- Participates in department projects as assigned
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
The position requires a College diploma or University Degree specializing in a business discipline, and a minimum of three years of relevant experience. Prior work experience in finance / billing / project management function within the legal or professional services industry is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.

We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
