About the Role
- Managing own set of files (from start to finish);
- Working closely with the Principal Lawyer (Co-counsel) on larger files and court proceedings;
- Preparing all draft materials and / or all materials required for discoveries and / or hearings;
- Conducting or assisting on Discoveries, Motions, Applications, and Trials;
- Communicating with all parties involved in the caseload;
- Scheduling all matter dates required, with assistance from the legal assistant;
- Organizing matters in accordance with Company policies;
- Assisting Office Manager and legal assistant with client-related duties.

What You Bring
- 2-3+ years of experience working at a law firm focusing on civil litigation;
- Examples of prior work (e.g., published cases, research papers / articles on legal topics would be an asset);
- This is a full-time contract position performed on-site at the office location, with occasional remote work availability;
- Good standing with the Law Society of Ontario;
- In-depth knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Court of Justice Act ;
- Ability to navigate through the courts (Zoom and in-person);
- Experience attending court for motions, case conferences, and trials;
- Experience drafting claims, defenses, applications, motions, affidavits, and factums;
- Experience working with experts when preparing for cases;
- Experience preparing clients for upcoming hearings;
- Compliance with and keeping up-to-date with practice directions;
- Experience using ACL, LexisNexis, WestLaw, CanLii, Cosmolex, and a superior understanding of Caselines;
- Ability to use Teraview, ESC, and other databases, with experience running various searches;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (OneDrive, Outlook, etc.) and Advanced PDF;
- Advanced negotiation and client interviewing skills.
