Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

About the role:

We are seeking a highly analytical, innovative and strategic leader to join the Global Monetization team within eBay Services. In this role, you will independently own and execute high-impact strategic workstreams that directly influence eBay’s Operating Income (OI) and Revenue Growth. You will be tasked with thinking big picture about marketplace dynamics, breaking down intricate cross-functional problems, developing quantitative frameworks and delivering impactful presentations to executive leadership.

In this role, the focus is on balancing business growth with user experience. This involves evaluating monetization levers entirely through a customer-centric lens—ensuring that our core products, platform features, and value-added services deliver undeniable value while acutely responding to user needs and Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD)."

What you'll accomplish:

  • Drive End-to-End Strategic Workstreams: Independently lead high-priority monetization initiatives—such as refining platform pricing for high-value transactions or introducing net-new revenue streams.

  • Build Advanced Economic & Valuation Frameworks: Author complex scoring and monetization frameworks to assess platform opportunities and evaluate volume stability risks (buyer elasticity, seller stickiness).

  • Perform Research on Buyer, Seller and 3P Audiences: Employ quantitative and qualitative research techniques to deeply understand customers’ end-to-end journeys and emphasize with JTBDs, underlying needs, pain points and motivations.

  • Conduct Market & Financial Analysis: Partner with Insights teams to gauge eBay competitive positioning and with Analytics to model P&L impact of pricing changes and new monetization strategies

  • Lead Cross-Functional Coalitions: Act as the strategic connective tissue between Category / Markets BUs, Legal, Privacy, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Data Programs on the launch and operationalization of new monetization

What you'll bring:

  • 6+ years of total experience, with a meaningful tenure at a top-tier management consulting firm or within a dedicated Corporate Strategy / Monetization / Strategy & Ops function in a global technology or e-commerce company.

  • Strong Quantitative Skills: Proven track record of building rigorous data models, evaluating price elasticity, establishing multi-factor opportunity scores, and conducting robust scenario-based financial forecasting (P&L impact).

  • First-Principles Problem Solving: Proven track record to take ambiguous, complex marketplace challenges, break them down into mutually exclusive hypotheses, and design rigorous testing frameworks.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business, or a related quantitative field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree from a top-tier business school.

  • Experience with marketplace monetization mechanics and margin structures (e.g., revenue take rates, value-added fees, payments, loss rates, incentives).

  • Experience with data monetization / licensing and API infrastructure

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

C$121,200 - C$161,800
