Role Summary As a DevOps Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and leading infrastructure and platform engineering projects. You will act as a senior technical resource, working closely with the Manager of DevOps, to shape the direction of our infrastructure and mentor other engineers. This is a hands-on role with a focus on large-scale, highly available production environments, requiring expert knowledge of Kubernetes, enterprise networking, virtualization, and automation. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, implementation, and operation of Kubernetes clusters at scale in production environments, including building and maintaining custom Kubernetes Operators and CSI drivers to extend cluster functionality. Engineer, automate, and maintain bare-metal and Co-location (Colo) environments; no public cloud, all on-premise, requiring deep understanding of physical infrastructure, data center operations, and custom integrations. Develop automation solutions for enterprise networking environments (e.g., Cisco), integrating network changes and configurations seamlessly into our CI / CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) workflows. Write production-grade software and tools in languages such as Go, Python, Bash, TypeScript, and Rust to manage, monitor, and improve infrastructure and platform services. Design, deploy, and automate VMware environments , including vSphere, vCenter, and vSAN, and build integrations that align with Kubernetes and CI / CD workflows. Administer Linux systems (RHEL, Debian, Ubuntu) at a deep level, along with working knowledge of Windows Server environments , including Active Directory integration. Lead IaC and configuration management practices using Terraform and Ansible , driving the adoption of version-controlled, repeatable infrastructure deployment. Architect and optimize CI / CD pipelines and processes (GitLab CI, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc.), implementing automation to increase deployment velocity, quality, and security. Mentor, coach, and guide junior and intermediate engineers , performing code reviews, sharing best practices, and helping the team tackle challenging issues. Implement and manage monitoring and observability tools (e.g., NetData, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana) for real-time visibility into system health and performance. Work within ITIL-based processes for incident, change, and problem management, contributing to continual service improvement efforts. Advocate for and apply DevOps methodologies and principles , ensuring alignment between development, operations, and business goals. Lead and contribute to technical design discussions , driving innovation and challenging the status quo to continuously improve our platform. Identify, propose, and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems , often requiring custom-built tools and out-of-the-box thinking. Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production incidents as required. Required Skills and Qualifications 6+ years of experience in Senior DevOps, Systems Engineering, or similar roles , ideally in high-availability production environments. Extensive, hands-on Kubernetes experience in production, including custom controllers / operators, CSI drivers , and multi-cluster management. Deep understanding of Co-location and bare-metal environments , including rack / stack, PXE booting, provisioning, and physical hardware management. Strong networking experience , including Cisco enterprise networking (routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls), and automating network configurations via Ansible or other tools. Expert-level coding skills in one or more of : Go, Python, Bash, TypeScript, Rust, including building automation tools, operators, and CLIs. Deep knowledge of VMware (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN) , including scripting and automation using PowerCLI or similar tools. Expert-level Linux administration (RedHat, Debian / Ubuntu) and solid working knowledge of Windows Server, including Active Directory integrations and DNS. Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) and configuration management principles. Advanced CI / CD knowledge , including pipeline design, artifact management, security scanning, and deployment strategies (GitOps, ArgoCD, FluxCD). Experience with observability stacks (NetData, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK). Strong knowledge of ITIL processes , with experience working within structured incident, problem, and change management environments. Proven experience applying DevOps principles (CI / CD, IaC, GitOps, immutable infrastructure), and ability to communicate their value clearly to peers and management. Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams , including development, operations, and security teams. Critical thinker who can innovate and find creative solutions to complex problems without relying on cloud-native offerings. Experience working in ultra-low-latency or real-time environments is a strong plus. Diploma or Degree in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science , or equivalent relevant experience is mandatory. Nice to Have / Bonus Skills Experience with service mesh (e.g., Istio, Consul). Familiarity with Kafka, Aerospike, and MySQL / Percona in distributed environments. Experience building internal developer platforms (IDPs) or platform-as-a-service solutions. Security best practices for infrastructure and Kubernetes (RBAC, OPA / Gatekeeper). #LI-Hybrid #LI-DNI Powered by JazzHR
