Spirit Omega requires the services for a CETR Project Manager to support the CETR Program Management team in executing the successful delivery of one of the largest and most complex transmission infrastructure projects. This position requires an experienced project management professional with a demonstrated track record project managing large-scale transmission, utility, industrial, or major infrastructure projects through the construction phase while managing safety, schedule, cost, quality, contractor performance, and stakeholder expectations.
The CETR Project Manager is accountable for all aspects of project delivery from project inception through to close out.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the execution of complex, multi-disciplinary transmission and substation construction projects, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and project teams to deliver project objectives safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
- Participate in procurement activities including the development of RFPs, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and contract award recommendations
- Drive project execution strategies that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery
- Promote and demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and environmental excellence.
- Ensure hazards are identified, risks are mitigated, and safe work plans are implemented throughout all phases of project execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation and HSE policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate project records, reporting, and governance documentation within company systems including Oracle Projects, IVARA Work Management, eScheduler, SharePoint, and ProjectWise.
- Manage project budgets according to the Capital Investment Policy, maintain forecasts, and complete change approvals
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, forecasts, and recovery plans.
- Manage scope, schedule, budget changes, and associated approval processes.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities throughout project execution
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants, municipalities, regulators, and external stakeholders
- Other duties that may be assigned consistent with the job description.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; or a relevant technical certificate or diploma with 10+ years of relevant experience;
- 5+ years of project management experience, in Utility Construction environment;
- Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in the hazards and appropriate safe work practices;
- Understanding and experience with project permitting, environmental assessments and stakeholder engagement;
- Thorough understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge;
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is highly desirable;
- Experience and knowledge around Alberta Electric System Operator project lifecycle is highly desirable; and
- Experience in major equipment and construction services procurement including; Request for Proposal development, tendering, evaluating, contract negotiations and contract administration.
Certifications and Training
Mandatory required within 1 month of hire at your own expense:
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS);
- Electrical Safety Training System;
- Contractor Management;
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Worker Education; and
- Hazard Management
