Our Team:

The IT Infrastructure team at Semtech supports a global workforce of approximately 2,100 users across 30+ sites in North America, EMEA, and APAC, owning the full stack from on-premises virtualization, enterprise networking, cloud platforms and servers. The team drives strategic initiatives while maintaining day-to-day reliability of all systems. Members collaborate cross-functionally with security, EDA/engineering, and business stakeholders to design and deliver scalable, resilient solutions across a complex, distributed environment.

Job Summary:

This role requires both hands-on technical depth and the ability to contribute to long-term infrastructure strategy in a fast-moving semiconductor company. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational excellence of Semtech's global network infrastructure, spanning 30+ sites across North America, EMEA, and APAC. This role owns a broad technology portfolio including Palo Alto next-generation firewalls, Zscaler, Aryaka SD-WAN, LAN/WAN architecture, Cisco L2/L3 network devices, and cloud networking across AWS and Azure environments. The first major initiative for this role will be leading Semtech's migration from its current firewall infrastructure to a Zscaler-based zero-trust architecture. Beyond that project, the role will continue to own the design, operation, and improvement of the global network, along with initiatives such as VPN modernization and cross-regional connectivity. Working closely with the IT Infrastructure, Security, and Cloud teams, this role plays a key part in ensuring network resilience, performance, and security for a fast-growing global semiconductor company.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Architecture: Plan and build scalable, reliable physical and wireless network infrastructures, including Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and cloud connectivity. (8%)
  • Configuration and Deployment: Install, configure, and manage core networking hardware and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and DHCP. (25%)
  • Monitoring and Optimization: Observe network performance metrics, analyze traffic patterns, and perform system tuning to maximize efficiency and prevent downtime. (15%)
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve complex network outages, performance degradation, and connectivity faults across multi-vendor environments. (25%)
  • Security Management: Implement network security controls, access policies, firewalls, and VPNs to protect corporate assets against cyber threats. (12%)
  • Planning and Documentation: Maintain detailed architecture diagrams, manage compliance with change control processes, and evaluate emerging technologies. (15%)

Education and Experience:

  • 8 years of information technology experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a dedicated network engineering role
  • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls and routing
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco switches
  • Hands-on experience with Zscaler
  • Bachelor's degree or technical school training in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Network architecture experience preferred

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of networking principles and practices
  • Comprehensive understanding of routing protocols, switching technologies, and network security
  • Expert proficiency with network management tools, monitoring systems, and security platforms
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in network design and implementation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities with systematic approach
  • Expert understanding of network security, compliance, and risk management
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions
  • Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Comprehensive understanding of semiconductor industry network requirements
  • Advanced ability to analyze complex network issues and develop solutions
  • Experience with network automation and software-defined networking
  • Knowledge of cloud networking and hybrid connectivity models
  • Professional certification in networking (CCNP, PCNSE, Zscaler, etc.) preferred
