Job Overview

The Senior Broker Communications Specialist is responsible for leading the development and execution of communication plans that inform, engage, and build awareness and understanding of Wawanesa’s Property & Casualty insurance and Life & Health insurance offerings across Canada with brokers.

They will create innovative and compelling content (in various mediums) to inspire brokers to choose Wawanesa as their carrier of choice for their clients, as well as communicate need-to-know information like rate and product changes, regulatory information and strategic announcements.

Content creation will further extend to promotions and contests, as well as recognition programs to entice our broker partners and help build the Wawanesa brand in the mind of our broker channel.

Reporting to the Manager, Broker Communications, this role works collaboratively with internal business partners on communications strategy related to broker-facing initiatives and projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a variety of business partners to develop and manage communications initiatives and projects, including product launches and rate and product changes, ensuring effective communication to appropriate stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Take a leading role in the writing and development of communication tactics including broker messages, FAQs, invites, key messages, scripts, marketing collateral and speeches to support business strategies.
  • Develop presentations, speaking points and event communications to support Business Development events and sales enablement (virtual, hybrid, and in-person events).
  • Partner with colleagues and subject matter experts across the organization to source and develop engaging stories aligned with Wawanesa’s brand and business strategies.
  • Measure the effectiveness of communication outcomes against project / team goals through data collection and regular measurement reporting.
  • Remain agile and adjust to changing timelines when necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the internal Marketing team or external creative agencies to develop content such as videos and presentations.
  • Provide day-to-day communications advice and guidance to internal clients and key business partners.
  • Actively participate in the development of processes and guidelines to support our department in achieving our goals and support collaboration with internal business partners.
  • Support the curation, editing, publishing and timely distribution of broker communications, with a focus on ease of use for brokers and attention-grabbing layout.
  • Support management and organization of content on broker platforms to ensure communications and broker resources are accurate, up to date and easy to find.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years communications experience in a corporate environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related discipline.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading and presentations skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships, influence others with skill / diplomacy working with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing and executing communication plans, and B2B marketing initiatives.
  • Exceptional attention to detail including well-developed analytical skills and strategic thinking.
  • Experience working with cross-functional, cross-regional teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
  • Experience writing / creating / producing materials across a variety of platforms (electronic, print, social media, video) and for different audiences.
  • Experience planning and managing content on a digital platform (Salesforce knowledge an asset). Exceptional project management skills : detail oriented, superior organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and to thrive as part of a team.
  • Availability on a 24 / 7 basis as needed for emergency communication.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms an asset.
  • Experience in insurance an asset.
  • Fluency in French an asset.
