Position Title : Business Intelligence Manager

Location : Toronto, ON M5J 2L6

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to lead our BI team and drive data-driven decision-making across the organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and deployment of BI solutions that support business operations, strategic initiatives, and performance analysis.

You will work closely with leadership, analysts, and IT teams to create scalable reporting systems, advanced analytics, and interactive dashboards that provide insights into key business performance metrics.

As a BI Manager, you will be a key player in ensuring that data is accurately and efficiently collected, transformed, and visualized in a way that empowers stakeholders to make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a team of BI developers, analysts, and data engineers, ensuring the team has the skills and resources to deliver high-quality BI solutions.
  • BI Strategy : Develop and execute the overall BI strategy, aligning BI initiatives with business objectives and driving a data-driven culture across the organization.
  • Data Governance & Quality : Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data used for reporting and analysis. Establish data governance frameworks and best practices for data collection, transformation, and storage.
  • Reporting & Dashboards : Oversee the creation of standardized and customized reports, dashboards, and visualizations that track business performance metrics across departments (e.

g., finance, marketing, sales, operations).

Business Analysis : Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate them into technical requirements.

Prioritize BI initiatives based on business goals and resource availability.

  • Advanced Analytics : Leverage statistical models, predictive analytics, and other advanced BI tools to generate insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Tool Selection & Implementation : Evaluate, recommend, and implement BI tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Qlik) that meet the organization's needs.
  • Collaboration with IT & Data Teams : Work alongside IT, data engineering, and data science teams to ensure seamless integration of BI tools with existing systems, databases, and data warehouses.
  • Continuous Improvement : Stay up to date with the latest BI trends, tools, and technologies, and continuously assess opportunities to improve reporting processes, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Project Management : Lead BI projects from concept to delivery, managing timelines, resources, and stakeholder communication.

Ensure that BI initiatives are completed on time and within budget.

Performance Monitoring & KPIs : Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement performance monitoring systems to evaluate the effectiveness of business strategies and operational processes.

Requirements

Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience leading a team of BI professionals, delivering high-impact BI solutions, and working with senior business leaders.
  • Strong knowledge of BI tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Looker, SAS, etc.).
  • Experience in data warehousing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and working with large datasets.

Technical Skills :

  • Advanced proficiency with SQL for querying databases, and experience with other data manipulation languages such as Python, R, or Spark.
  • In-depth knowledge of data modeling, reporting, and analytics techniques.
  • Experience with data visualization best practices and designing intuitive, actionable dashboards.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL frameworks, and data integration techniques.
  • Knowledge of machine learning models and predictive analytics is a plus.
