The Labour Relations team at Simon Fraser University strives to maintain harmonious working relationships with the employee groups on campus.

  • Collective agreement and policy interpretation
  • Collective bargaining
  • Advice and guidance on the grievance procedure
  • Support to investigations and arbitrations

About the Role

The Labour and Employee Relations Advisor provides day-to-day administration of the CUPE Local 3338, Poly Party, and the TSSU collective agreements, as well as the APSA policies and procedures.

The incumbent will attend grievance meetings with departmental managers on behalf of the Director, Labour and Employee Relations.

The Advisor also provides interpretations of and advises on collective agreements to the line organization and other Human Resources staff to ensure the uniform interpretation and application of the agreements throughout the University.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree with a major in Human Resource Management and training towards the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, plus five years of related professional experience including three years of experience specializing in labour relations, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Additional Information

The assignment end date is March 31, 2025.

The pay range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for the position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position.

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
