Platform Engineer III

Candidates for this position are preferred to be based in Toronto, ON and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

You will have the opportunity to work on one of the following teams :

Service Integration : We sit at the intersections of foundational platforms, developer workflows, simplified operations, production readiness and service configuration and enablement.

Working to understand the needs of developers and platform owners and their journey to bring world-class experiences to our customers and suppliers, as well as internal and external teams.

Our engagement is dynamic, crossing technical boundaries of all kinds to simplify and accelerate. We are a diverse, multidisciplinary team of world-class engineers with a highly visible workstream that drives significant impact.

What You’ll Do :

• Responsible for being hands-on in building integrations, tools and patterns that are reliable, scalable and easy to maintain
• Ensure the quality of engineering within your team
• Contribute to architectural and code review discussions that impact our engineering ecosystem
• Raise the bar of the teams you'll be working with
• Collaborate with leads and engineers across multiple teams to solve a wide variety of business and technical problems
• Ensure our systems are properly documented
• Contribute to the growth and development of the Wayfair engineering scene within Toronto and beyond.

We Are a Match Because You Have :

• Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of professional experience writing code, working with APIs, or building backends
• Excellent team player with a passion for collaboration
• Great skills in solving complex problems with simple abstract solutions
• Experience working in agile environments
• Interest in being challenged in a fast-paced environment while having fun
• Analytical and creative mindset, with a passion for solving business problems with technology
• Ability to quickly translate business requirements into working features
• Deep understanding of platform concepts and components - networking fundamentals, Linux system management and troubleshooting, containerization, HTTP and webserving, end-to-end systems design etc
• Expertise with anything here would be great!
• scripting and tools (BASH, Python, Ruby, GoLang)
• Public Cloud (GCP, AWS etc)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi)
• Configuration as Code (Puppet, Ansible, Chef)
• CI / CD (Jenkins, BuildKite, CircleCI, TravisCI),
• Image Building & Artifact Management (Packer, Docker, Artifactory)
• Application / Container Orchestration (K8s, Docker Swarm)
