Scope of the role
We are looking for a highly motivated Director, Finance Data to join the Financial Systems Team in Toronto. This role will report to the Vice President, Financial Systems.
This role develops and executes the Data strategy, governance, and program for Oxford Properties, including Financial Data and related Operational Tenancy Data, in partnership with Business teams, Finance teams, and Enterprise Data and Technology teams.

Key Responsibilities
Enabling the realization of Finance strategic objectives and business value through the development of long-range data strategy, roadmap and implementation plan in alignment with strategies and roadmaps of Finance Systems, Data & Advanced Analytics and Enterprise Architecture.
Data governance : Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Oxford data governance principles and practices, in strong partnership with the OMERS Enterprise Information and Data Governance team.
Establish policies and procedures for Finance data management (eg. capture, storage, processing, integrations, use, and disposition), data classification (eg.
glossary, data quality rules, data lineage, etc.), privacy (eg. managing encryption, data masking, and anonymization processes), and compliance.
Manage Data Roles and Responsibilities : Define and coordinate the roles of data owners, stewards, technical custodians, and users, for both internally generated and externally sourced data.
Data Operations : Oversee the sourcing and set-up of Finance data sets and models for Oxford Properties, to harness the full potential of our data through advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities.
Architecting an Azure data hub that is scalable, secure, and aligned with Oxford’s data strategy.
Leading data-driven elements of a new ERP implementation, such as future state data architecture and data conversion / migration, ensuring data quality and consistency.
Collaborating with IT, business unit leaders, finance leaders, and external partners to drive data-related initiatives as they arise.
Data flow : In partnership with the Data and Technology teams, contribute to the assessment and continuous improvement of data integration between systems, to ensure timely, standardized, efficient and effective throughput.
Compliance Monitoring : Develop reporting requirements for data compliance and governance health metrics.
Relationships : Develop partner relationships with data users and all other stakeholders across OMERS and Oxford.
Learning : Stay current on trends in industry and global peers, and assess their relevance to Oxford.
Lead Inspire and direct a team of 4, to achieve this strategy while developing their skills and capabilities, through active talent management, team care, and adoption of OMERS / Oxford values and leadership capabilities.
Similarly, develop a leadership presence across the entire Global Finance and Technology team.
Qualifications
7-10 years’ experience in similar Finance data role
Experience in data governance, architecture, modelling, and operations at similar complex, global organizations
Extensive hands on technical experience and strong knowledge of Analytics for associated real estate use cases
Understanding of ethical and legal considerations related to data usage, privacy, security and compliance
Awareness of big data concepts and technologies
Experience with business architecture, data integration and data automation tools (eg. UiPath Studio, Power Platform)
In depth experience and proficiency with Microsoft technology stack, especially Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Data Bricks and Machine Learning, SQL, PowerBI, Data Activator, PowerApps, and Power Automate
Experience with Data Cataloging / Metadata Management tools (e.g., Purview, Collibra) and Data Integration & Quality tools (e.g., Boomi, Informatica)
In depth knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Statistics, with CFA, CPA, and / or MBA preferred
