Job description

WHO WE ARE
When it comes to health, we’re always looking for waysto push for better. It’s why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter’s prescription. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he introduced North America’s first prepaid drug plan, and GreenShield was born as a not-for-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.

We aren’t just a health and benefits company. We’re the only not-for-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place.
We’re noble challengers, purposefully building a better way and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body.

Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

The position is primarily focused on the technical and creative aspects of proposal writing. It involves working with internal stakeholders to develop key messages on various programs or initiatives for external audiences, being responsible for the full process of proposal completion (from analysis of the marketing specifications to the final “on brand” bound product), and supporting content management for the proposal database.

The proposal writer will also interact with members of the Marketing and Communications Team, contributing to team projects and supporting our sales teams. This position will report to the Manager, Communications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

  • Develop proposals in response to a variety of requests for proposal (RFPs) and requests for information (RFIs);
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including Account Executives) on strategic review of RFPs and RFIs;
  • Coordinate the proposal process and completion of proposals;
  • Contribute to team editorial meetings;
  • Assist in maintaining and updating a large database of information pertaining to proposals;
  • Collaborate with senior managers and business partners to develop proactive communications about GSC’s products and services, while ensuring messages are aligned with company’s strategic priorities;
  • Perform quality checks/peer reviews of proposals with team members to ensure consistency and accuracy;
  • Monitor and manage “look and feel” of final proposal documents by editing for style, accuracy and content;
  • Provide support for the Marketing and Communications Team, and more general administrative tasks as required.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate is an independent self-starter that is motivated by the opportunity to be a member of a growing Marketing and Communications Team within a growing organization. They will also possess the following competencies and qualifications:

  • Experience in group benefits and/or related industries – preferred;
  • Post-secondary education in communications/business/marketing/human resources - preferred;
  • Aptitude for project management and collaboration with various stakeholders, as well as demonstrating strong administrative and creative skills;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize accountabilities in a deadline-driven environment;
  • Excellent listening, verbal communication, and writing skills;
  • Strong computer skills – Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
  • Entrepreneurial aptitude, positive attitude, customer-focus, and interest to learn;
  • Bilingual communication skills – English and French – considered a valued asset;
  • Basic graphic design skills – considered a valued asset;
  • A sense of humour (we’re dead serious).

THE CULTURE
We believe a career should be meaningful. Not just a means to earn a living. Our culture is one where everyone's voice is heard and valued. We believe our people are critical to our overall success. Inclusivity makes us a stronger, smarter and more informed organization. Being intentionally inclusive of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences will enhance our company culture to positively impact how we support our communities. A career at GreenShield isn’t just about personal achievements, it's about making a difference together.
