Vice President, Business Development - Private Equity

Our client is a Toronto-based private equity firm founded by two highly accomplished, successful and well-regarded private equity investment professionals.

They target investment opportunities in the Canadian lower middle market focusing on business services, value-added distribution and high return on invested capital businesses.

They bring a programmatic approach to value creation through data analytics, sales force growth, and execution of buy and build strategies.

The firm has had a very strong start with various investments completed and others underway. As a result, they are growing the team and looking to hire a Vice President of Business Development to identify private equity investment opportunities for new platform investments as well as add on acquisitions for their portfolio companies.

This individual will be an integral member and contributor to the overall growth and success of the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a targeted business development plan to build a pipeline of opportunities. While utilizing and updating the existing database and CRM system.
  • Establish and build a strong network with advisors focused on this sector of the market, primarily in Canada but also the US.
  • Attend conferences, across both private equity and industry related, to identify investment target companies.
  • Become a subject matter expert on trends and opportunities in the small to mid cap private equity market across Canada.
  • Integral member of the investment team with strong relationships with portfolio executive team and will work very closely with senior level investment team members.
  • Attend meeting and calls with clients.
  • Develop a positive, knowledgeable and trusted relationship with clients and advisors
  • Become a visible presence in the Canadian private equity community
  • Bring a high level of emotional intelligence in building relationships and representing Alphi Capital in the market.

The right fit :

  • Successful completion of a Bachelors degree, ideally in commerce or business. CPA or MBA as asset
  • 5-10 years of experience in mid market diversified investment banking, financial sponsors leverage finance or strategic consulting
  • An outgoing focused individual with strong knowledge of the private equity world
  • High emotional intelligence and maturity
  • Highly organized, willing to hustle, business development minded, comfortable in an entrepreneurial young firm
  • Strong desire to be a key contributor to the growth of a Canadian private equity firm
  • Exceptional professional presentation and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada and be familiar with the Canadian business community.
