As the Contract Specialist, you will manage supplier contract formation for a new gas terminal project. This role is pivotal in drafting, negotiating, and overseeing contracts with suppliers and vendors, ensuring optimal terms and compliance with industry regulations.

The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to support procurement initiatives and drive supplier performance.

Please note this is a 12 month contract with possibility of extension, working from the downtown Calgary office.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Contract Development : Draft, review, and negotiate procurement contracts and supplier agreements, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives.
  • Supplier Evaluation : Collaborate with procurement teams to assess supplier capabilities, evaluate proposals, and establish contract terms that foster strong partnerships.
  • Risk Management : Identify and mitigate risks associated with supplier contracts, including performance, compliance, and financial risks.
  • Compliance Assurance : Ensure all contracts adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies and standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Work closely with internal stakeholders, including procurement, operations, and finance, to gather insights and facilitate effective contract execution.
  • Contract Performance Monitoring : Track supplier performance against contract terms and provide insights for continuous improvement and value creation.
  • Dispute Resolution : Assist in resolving any contract-related disputes or issues with suppliers, including support for negotiations and conflict resolution.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement contract management in the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous experience with time and material based contracts.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, civil, and rail, contracts is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and supplier management practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
