B+H Architects is currently seeking an Intermediate Healthcare Planner to join our dynamic and progressive team based in our Toronto Studio.

As an Intermediate Healthcare Planner, you will be working collaboratively with the Healthcare Architecture and Interior Design team on the delivery of large scale Healthcare projects in Canada, as well as well as supporting and mentoring our junior designers.

This role can be based in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Assist in managing the deliverables for the medical planning team within the greater project deliverable schedule
  • Assist in leading the medical planning process within the design team to create department floor plan concepts reflective of operations
  • Provide expertise on the differences in institutional, ambulatory, and business occupancy environments.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the client on planning issues
  • Work with end users to outline process flows and critical adjacencies of clinical rooms
  • Understand and guide discussions on medical equipment needs
  • Assist the coordination of all disciplines related to the building design and health planning.
  • Engage in problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed drawings
  • Prepare health planning presentation drawings, diagrams, and narratives as well as drawings and specification documents
  • Provide planning, design and coordination support on projects and pursuits
  • Engage in mentoring junior team members or other interested colleagues in health planning practices
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Registered Architect preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Healthcare planning experience required
  • Clear understanding of the differences in institutional, ambulatory, and business occupancy environments
  • Clear understanding of applicable codes & building construction systems, materials, and standards
  • Understanding of healthcare trends
  • Understanding of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings and models
  • Strong presentation, communication, organizational, collaboration and communication skills
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Team player, adaptable with a positive attitude
  • Strong computer skills (REVIT, MS Office Suite, Blue Beam)
  • Must be willing to travel to locations across Canada
