Job description

Your Opportunity:

Are you a natural leader with a passion for teamwork and operational excellence? Join our dynamic team at the Stollery Children’s Hospital Respiratory Therapy and Pediatric Sleep Lab as an Assistant Manager and help shape the future of respiratory care. As Edmonton’s primary pediatric and neonatal tertiary care center and a referral hub for Western Canada, we offer specialized services such as cardiac surgery, organ transplantation, high risk labour and delivery, and Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS). You will have the opportunity to work across three Stollery sites: University of Alberta Hospital (UAH), Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), and the Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH). What You’ll Do: The Assistant Manager oversees daily operations and staffing for respiratory therapy and sleep lab services, supports staff performance and attendance management, and serves as the first point of contact for frontline staff concerns related to patient care and clinical practice. The role includes coordinating human, financial, and material resources to ensure efficient service delivery, while contributing to program development and collaborating with leadership to enhance care quality and operational effectiveness. Why Edmonton? Enjoy a vibrant city with access to the Rockies, river valley trails, and a thriving food and arts scene. With low taxes and diverse housing options, it’s easy to find your place here. Passionate about pediatric or neonatal respiratory care? Apply today to be part of a revolutionary team that drives evidence-based best practice, innovation and excellence.

This position plays a key role in the implementation of departmental objectives, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice standards. Working collaboratively with the Respiratory Therapy leadership team, clinical programs, educators, and interdisciplinary partners, the Assistant Manager facilitates effective communication, promotes collaboration, and supports change-management initiatives across service areas. The role also contributes to financial stewardship through monitoring expenditures and identifying variances, and to risk management by promoting a culture of safety, supporting incident reporting, and addressing operational risks. As a first point of contact for staff, the Assistant Manager provides mentoring, guidance, and leadership in complex, fast-paced clinical environments, supporting both staff engagement and optimal patient outcomes.

Proficiency with computer systems, along with excellent communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, analytical thinking, change management, organizational, and project management skills, is required. A solid understanding of the Health Professions Act, related legislation, and professional standards of practice is also necessary. A combination of education, skills, and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:
