By joining Andritz Hydro Canada, you are contributing to the development of sustainable technology, a clean future, and the maintenance of a proud Canadian's expertise.

From water to wire – Be part of the movement!

The mechanical design technician provides detailed drawings, using CAD / CAM development tools, during various stages ranging from bid preparation to factory manufacture and on-site installation. He or she works in collaboration with engineers during the design process for heavy mechanical equipment (dam gates, hoists, embedded parts, etc.).

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

This position is based at the ANDRITZ office in Boucherville (3 days in the office and 2 days at home). In addition, short visits to hydroelectric plants across Canada may be required (a few times a year).

  • Prepare detailed drawings of heavy mechanical equipment (dam gates, hoists, embedded parts, etc.), tender drawings, shop drawings, site drawings and factory assembly drawings;
  • Participate to the design process in collaboration with engineers;
  • Assist engineers with detailed design tasks using CAD / CAM development tools;
  • Select components for heavy mechanical assembly design;
  • Check plans for compliance with existing guidelines, code requirements and other regulations;
  • Meet deadlines;
  • Ensure that its concepts and drawings are feasible in terms of the company's requirements and manufacturing processes;
  • Determine dimensional tolerances required for manufacturing;

  • Participate in team meetings;
  • Check drawings for compliance with customer specifications and design data;
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Why do you fit the profile?

Successful teams share objectives, and they also share values! In addition to your strong skills and experience, we need someone with high motivation, a positive mindset, and a willingness to be part of a team.

The ideal candidate should be willing to work in a complex, fast-paced environment, with evolving priorities. Result and solution-oriented candidates who follow through with ideas and commitments will perform well within ANDRITZ. As our projects have large scopes and often require years to be completed, your perseverance will be valued with us.
