Northern Lights College offers a wide array of systems deployed over the largest geographical area of any Post-secondary Institution in BC! Work with cutting edge technologies from Meraki, PaloAlto, Microsoft, Dell, Polycom and many others.

The Intermediate Information Technologist role spans the gap between our systems and staff/students, while working in a highly collaborative, fun and supportive environment.

Tired of the break/fix grind? Here at NLC, we offer opportunities to expand your skill sets working with the latest technology at a managed pace. We support a great group of people, customer service is our moto, and we deliver in spades!

Day to day duties include assisting the Chief Information Officer in maintaining systems to deliver quality support to our staff and students remotely, in person or over the phone for systems such as:

  • Video Conferencing (monitoring and troubleshooting)
  • VoIP phone systems (deployment and troubleshooting)
  • Imaging of desktops/laptops (assist in building/testing images)
  • Outlook and Exchange 2013 (Troubleshooting mail flow, spam filtering)
  • Office 365 (deployment and configuration)
  • Printers (monitoring and troubleshooting)
  • Windows 10, Server 2012-2016 (troubleshooting and resolving hardware/software/network issues)

Additionally, we have many exciting projects that this position will contribute towards in planning/deployment/testing/optimization. Opportunities for after hours work may be available as well!

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have strong break/fix skills in systems, software, and networking and enjoys delivering great customer service. They will have experience in Windows 7/10 and Server 2008, 2012 and 2016 with a good understanding of DNS, AD and Group Policies. Knowledge of cloud technologies such as Azure, VMCloud and AWS would be a bonus! Exchange, Vmware, PaloAlto or Meraki experience would be an asset as well, but not required. Related certifications, such as A+, N+, etc., would be preferred. We are willing to train the ideal applicant!

A current Driver's license is required for this position.

To support employment equity and diversity in the workplace, we encourage all qualified applicants, including Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, visible minorities, women, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity or expression (LGBTQ2S+), and others who may contribute to diversity at Northern Lights College.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we are committed to increasing Indigenous Peoples' representation throughout the institution and encourage applicants to self-identify as Indigenous--First Nation, Metis, or Inuit within cover letters and/or resume.
