Job description

At TRUE Consulting, relationships are at the heart of everything we do – TRUE, genuine relationships built on honesty, trust, and mutual success. We believe that when you genuinely care about the people you work with, engineering excellence follows naturally. That’s why we focus on building long-term partnerships, not just one-off projects. Our commitment to clients goes beyond contracts; our work speaks for itself, with satisfied clients returning time and again and sharing their experiences with others.

For our team, we create a supportive, inspiring, and inclusive environment that values people over profits. With low turnover and a strong sense of community, we invest in our employees’ well‑being and success, empowering them to achieve remarkable things.

How We Do It Differently

Exceptional engineering starts with exceptional service. At TRUE, responsive customer service is our Brand Promise. Thanks to our low staff turnover, our clients work consistently with a dedicated team of experienced experts who understand their unique needs and goals. This continuity enables us to deliver practical, common‑sense solutions that tackle real challenges without unnecessary complexity. We believe meaningful relationships drive the best results; by staying closely connected to our clients, we exceed expectations and foster lasting trust.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training to join our team. The role will include working on municipal engineering projects including water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems, road and transportation improvements, site preparation and earthworks, and subdivision and development projects.

You’ll be part of a close‑knit group of experienced personnel, including specialist engineers, client managers, and project managers, all dedicated to ensuring your success. At TRUE, you’ll find the best of both worlds : we’re large enough to offer expert services across all aspects of transportation engineering, yet small enough to maintain a family‑like environment where everyone’s contributions are valued.

As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects and apply your expertise in practical, client‑centered ways. We’re seeking a candidate who values what we do, how we do it, and most importantly, why we do it. The successful candidate will understand the importance of our culture and be ready to grow within an organization that prioritizes people and relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Civil Design, project management and contract administration
  • Assisting professional engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computational requirements.
  • Completing water system modeling (WaterCAD) and sanitary sewer and stormwater modeling (PCSWMM).
  • Preparing technical memos, design reports, and presenting findings to clients,
  • Preparation of project specifications and cost estimates.
  • Drafting and design using AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
  • Supporting the work of senior engineers and other technical staff appointed to the project.
  • Travel within the Interior and Central Interior.
  • Field work such as facility site inspections and construction inspections and documentation.

About You

  • 0‑5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Registered (or able to be registered) as an EIT with EGBC
  • Basic understanding of water system hydraulics, open channel and pipe flow, transportation and road design
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good research and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to define problems, prioritize tasks, and maintain a community‑driven perspective.
  • Genuine curiosity, a desire to innovate, and expand personal and company knowledge.
  • Other Requirements include :

  • A Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Computer competency, experience with Civil 3D, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, or GIS should be highlighted
  • About TRUE

We have offices strategically located in Williams Lake, Kamloops, Penticton and Trail in order to efficiently support our clients in the BC interior. We are committed to the long‑term success of our clients and strive to deliver professional service with a focus on creative and practical solutions.

  • Work with small local government clients and local developers, guiding projects that bring meaningful change to communities.
  • A family‑feel atmosphere within a team of approximately 80 employees
  • Our People, Client Service, and Integrity are our core values. We believe in TRUE relationships.
  • Competitive salaries, extended health and dental coverage, maternity leave top‑up, vacation time, paid overtime, profit sharing, RRSP matching, health and wellness benefits, philanthropy initiatives, flexible work arrangements, and more!
  • The annual salary range for this position is $65,000 – $90,000 depending on experience.
