Job description

Individually we are people, but together we are Aviva. Individually these are just words, but together they are our Values – Care, Commitment, Community, and Confidence.

At Aviva Canada, we put people first, our employees, our customers, and our communities. We’re proud of a culture built on care, inclusion, and collaboration, where your voice matters and your growth is supported. We’re not just about insurance; we’re about making a real difference by protecting what matters most.

The Finance Technology Platform Associate supports the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of Finance technology solutions across core Finance platforms, reporting processes, reconciliations, controls and regulatory outcomes.

The role works closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Technology, QA, Architecture and vendor partners to define system impacts, support solution delivery, validate financial outcomes and help move Finance change safely into production.

The successful candidate will bring strong Finance IT and Accounting knowledge, data analysis capability, testing discipline and practical delivery experience. The focus is on understanding how Finance processes, data, controls and platforms work together, then helping teams implement changes with clear impacts, strong validation and minimal operational risk.

This is a hands-on Finance technology delivery role, supporting platforms such as Oracle Fusion, Guidewire, Data Warehouse, MDM and related Finance applications.

What you'll do

Finance platform delivery and solution support

  • Support delivery of Finance technology changes across Oracle Fusion, Guidewire, Data Warehouse, MDM and related Finance applications

  • Work with Finance, Accounting, Operations and Technology teams to confirm system impacts, process impacts, data impacts and control considerations

  • Translate Finance process needs into clear solution inputs for Technology, QA and delivery partners

  • Support assessment of solution options, risks, dependencies and implementation impacts

  • Help ensure Finance requirements are reflected accurately in delivery plans, validation activities and production readiness decisions

  • Maintain practical delivery documentation needed to support change, testing, operations and auditability

Finance systems and data analysis

  • Analyze financial data issues across upstream and downstream applications

  • Support investigation of production issues, reconciliation breaks, reporting differences and control exceptions

  • Review data flows, interfaces and dependencies between Finance platforms and source systems

  • Use SQL and other analysis tools to support data investigation, validation, testing and implementation checks

  • Support financial transaction validation, reporting accuracy and control evidence

  • Provide clear analysis of root cause, business impact and remediation options

Testing, validation and implementation support

  • Support UAT, end to end testing, regression testing and production validation activities

  • Help define Finance validation scenarios, expected outcomes and sign off criteria

  • Review test coverage for Finance process, accounting, reconciliation, reporting and control impacts

  • Work with QA, Development, Architecture, Finance and Operations teams during testing cycles

  • Support defect triage by clarifying Finance impact, severity, workaround options and production risk

  • Support implementation planning, deployment readiness, post implementation validation and stabilization

  • Ensure Finance sign-off is supported by clear evidence, agreed outcomes and documented exceptions

Finance controls, reporting and operational support

  • Support Finance reporting, accounting control and audit related activities

  • Help maintain process documentation, system knowledge and operational support materials

  • Find opportunities to simplify manual processes, improve controls and reduce recurring operational issues

  • Support regulatory, reporting and business transformation initiatives where Finance platform changes are required

  • Help ensure solutions align with Finance control expectations, audit needs and operational resilience

Stakeholder coordination

  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Technology, QA, Architecture and external delivery partners

  • Provide clear updates on risks, issues, dependencies, decisions and validation progress

  • Support working sessions needed to resolve delivery questions, data issues, testing gaps and implementation risks

  • Build strong working relationships across Finance and Technology to support practical delivery outcomes

What you'll bring

  • Minimum 7 years of experience supporting Finance systems, financial applications, platform delivery, system change or operational change in a large enterprise environment

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with Finance processes, accounting outcomes, reconciliations, reporting or financial controls

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, journal entries, General Ledger concepts and financial reporting processes

  • Experience supporting Finance technology change across ERP, reporting, integration or data platforms

  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Financials, including GL, AP, AR or related subledgers, or comparable ERP platforms

  • Experience working with Guidewire applications, such as BillingCenter, PolicyCenter or ClaimCenter

  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills

  • Experience investigating data issues, financial processing breaks, reconciliation differences and production defects

  • Experience supporting UAT, end to end testing, regression testing and business validation activities

  • Ability to define clear validation scenarios, expected results and sign off evidence

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively with Finance, Technology, QA, Architecture and vendor teams

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visio, Word and PowerPoint

What makes you stand out

  • Insurance industry experience

  • Knowledge of IFRS17, OSFI, GISA, Facility Association or related regulatory requirements

  • Experience supporting Finance transformation, regulatory reporting or operational simplification initiatives

  • Familiarity with Data Warehouse, ETL, MDM and integration solutions

  • Experience working in Agile and hybrid delivery environments

  • Experience using Jira or Confluence

What Success Looks Like

  • Finance platform changes are delivered with clear impacts, strong validation and controlled implementation

  • Financial processing, reconciliations and reporting outcomes are accurate and supportable

  • UAT, end to end testing and regression testing are well structured and evidence based

  • Production defects and project issues are assessed clearly, prioritized properly and resolved with the right ownership

  • Finance sign off is supported by agreed criteria, documented evidence and transparent exceptions

  • Stakeholders across Finance and Technology have clear visibility of risks, decisions and dependencies

  • Manual workarounds and recurring process issues are reduced through practical simplification and automation

  • Finance transformation and regulatory initiatives are supported without weakening operational control

What you’ll get

  • Competitive vacation package with the option to purchase 5 extra days off per year.

  • Employee driven programs focused on gender, LGBTQ+, origins, diversity, and inclusion.
