  • Knowledge Development: Enhance your technical expertise and stay current on industry trends and best practices

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze structures for new construction, renovation and restoration and rehabilitation projects.
  • Evaluate existing buildings, leveraging knowledge of diverse materials and structural systems.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members to ensure project success.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets effectively for successful project delivery.
  • Conduct site reviews and contract administration inspections and provide guidance during construction.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure seamless communication.
  • Prepare evaluation reports, construction documents, and project proposals.
  • Represent Sense at client meetings and other networking functions with a commitment to exceptional service standards.
  • Support mentoring of junior engineers and knowledge sharing within Sense
  • Occasional travel within Canada required, with the majority of projects to be within Alberta
  • Other duties as assigned/required

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within a structural engineering firm, preferably involving existing buildings and new construction of institutional, commercial and residential buildings
  • Strong technical expertise in structural engineering and materials
  • Registered or actively pursuing registration with the Association of Profession Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
  • Proficiency with structural design software (e.g., S-Frame, ETABS, spSlab) and familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit
  • Proven ability to apply project management principles, from strategic planning and budgeting to resource allocation and scope control
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and relationship building skills with a proven ability to build trust with clients and contractors
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail coupled with a client-centric mindset
  • Team player who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to creative thinking and approaching challenges from fresh perspectives, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing within the organization
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation required

Why Join Sense Engineering?

  • Join a vibrant and supportive team of dedicated professionals who value collaboration and camaraderie - plus, we make time for fun with our monthly social events!
  • Work on impactful projects with leading clients and contractors.
  • Enjoy opportunities for professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package including profit sharing twice a year.
