AML Oceanographic Ltd.Dartmouth, NS, CA- Full-time
The Electromechanical Technician is a hands‑on, detail-focused role dedicated to assembling, testing, and improving the quality of AML’s Moving Vessel Profiler product line. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician who takes ownership of their work, learns from mistakes, and contributes meaningfully to team performance and product excellence.
With proven experience in both mechanical and electrical assembly, this person will play a critical role in delivering reliable builds, testing, troubleshooting, and driving improvements in build quality, safety, and workflow. The best match for this position is someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, follows processes with precision, and consistently finds ways to make things better, both in the product and the production environment.
The mission of this role is :
“Build it and better it—by assembling high-quality products, improving processes, and learning from every build.”
Why AML?
At AML, we’re always on the hunt for passionate team players who want to make a difference. AMLers commit their hands, their heads, and their hearts to their position. There are no sidelines. This is not corporate marketing : Glassdoor ratings score AML at 4.70 out of 5.00. Our eNPS numbers are equally impressive, with a +62 response to the question : "Do you enjoy working at AML?"
AMLers cite five main reasons as to why they choose us : our culture, the people, our growth trajectory, transparency, and workplace flexibility.
AML designs and manufactures ocean‑sensing solutions—sensors, instrumentation, and deployment systems—for customers on all seven continents. We have a market reputation for going to the ends of the earth to make our customers successful, enabling them to focus on oceanography, not the equipment.
As a hi‑tech manufacturing business, our technical team includes experts and engineers with experience in the acoustic, mechanical, electrical, software, and embedded software domains. We operate from locations at either end of Canada.
What you’ll do :
- Build & Test Assemblies : Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of AML’s instruments and subassemblies according to drawings and work instructions.
- Follow Process & Flag Issues : Work to SOPs and ensure quality standards are upheld; raise concerns or deviations early and constructively.
- Support Quality & Efficiency : Learn from past errors, minimize rework, and suggest ways to improve build quality or speed.
- Contribute to Team Success : Maintain a safe, clean, and collaborative work environment; be a reliable contributor to the production team’s overall output.
- Troubleshoot & Resolve Problems : Use structured methods to isolate and correct issues during assembly or test stages.
- Engage in Continuous Improvement : Participate in changes to SOPs, tools, fixtures, and production practices that increase reliability and reduce waste.
- Cross-Train & Support Flexibility : Be ready to step into other technician or support roles to ensure continuity and team coverage.
