We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Assurance and Testing Technician to join our team on a full-time basis in Steinbach, MB. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all wet cast concrete products meet internal specifications, industry standards, and production performance expectations. The technician acts as a key link between mix design, batch plant operations, and production, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.

The role as a Quality Assurance and Testing Technician will include, but is not limited to:

  • Perform plastic concrete testing including slump/flow, air content, temperature, and visual assessments
  • Cast, cure, and test compression cylinders in accordance with applicable standards
  • Verify that concrete mixes meet both plastic and hardened performance specifications
  • Routinely visit production areas to evaluate mix performance, including flowability, segregation, finishing, and temperature conditions
  • Collaborate with production staff to assess mix behavior and identify potential issues early
  • Adjust admixture dosages within approved limits and accurately document all changes in collaboration with batching technician
  • Maintain and manage the wet cast testing database, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready
  • Monitor test results and identify trends impacting quality or consistency
  • Verify batch plant compliance, including mix recipes, material dosing, and water adjustments
  • Monitor and calibrate aggregate moisture probes, including performing daily aggregate bake-outs
  • Review aggregate sieve tests and gradation data to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Interpret engineering and shop drawings to support quality and inspection requirements
  • Support inspections, audits, and certification processes as required
  • Develop working knowledge of batching systems within multiple plants
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve mix performance, production efficiency, and product consistency
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly with production and technical teams
  • Infrequent travel as required to other locations to perform the duties of the role

The ideal candidate will have:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 (required; training may be provided)
  • Strong understanding of concrete materials, mix designs, and admixture systems
  • Experience with concrete testing procedures and quality control practices
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and shop drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with production teams
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, and lift as required in a plant environment
  • Experience in a manufacturing or precast concrete environment is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with batch plant systems and processes is considered an asset
