Title: Microsoft Licensing Specialist
Location: Hybrid, 1-2x per week in Kitchener, ON
Type: 6 month contract
Pay Rate: $50-$60 INC per hour

Typical day in the role:
Microsoft Licensing Advisory & CSP Management • Advise internal Sales teams and customers on Microsoft 365 licensing (Business, E3/E5), Security & Compliance add-ons, Teams/Calling/Voice, and Copilot/AI-related SKUs
• Provide expert guidance on NCE commitments, term alignment, seat management, and renewal planning
• Support new business, mid-term adjustments, expansions, and renewals across the CSP portfolio
• Act as the internal escalation point for complex licensing scenarios including multi-tenant environments, M&A events, carve-outs, and mixed contract structures
Licensing Governance & Commercial Accuracy • Ensure full compliance with Microsoft CSP, NCE, and partner program policies
• Validate deal structures to protect margin, contract duration alignment, and billing accuracy
• Identify and reduce licensing errors, remediation overhead, and revenue leakage
• Maintain documentation standards to support internal and external audit readiness
CoreView Licensing & Tenant Assessments • Run and interpret CoreView licensing and tenant assessments to identify over/under-licensing risks, security gaps, and configuration issues
• Translate CoreView findings into actionable licensing optimization recommendations, sales opportunities, and funded workshop entry points
• Position CoreView assessments as a standard component of renewal and lifecycle motions
• Partner with Sales, Presales, and Professional Services to map assessment findings to license changes, project opportunities, and managed services
Microsoft Funding Programs & Workshops • Identify customer eligibility for Microsoft funding programs including Modern Work, Security, Copilot, and AI readiness workshops, and migration/adoption incentives
• Align licensing configurations and customer intent to funding eligibility requirements, and position funded workshops as low-risk modernization entry points
• Act as operational liaison with Microsoft PDMs, SMB/SMC sales teams, and authorized distributor funding teams
• Engage Microsoft early in opportunity cycles to validate funding eligibility, align workshop scope, and confirm SKU prerequisites
• Ensure funded engagements are correctly scoped, program-compliant, and aligned to delivery capacity and margin expectations
Sales Enablement & Pipeline Acceleration • Serve as a trusted commercial advisor to Sales — coaching on licensing trade-offs, package design, and funding-backed deal strategies
• Use CoreView assessments and Microsoft funding programs to remove buyer friction, create urgency, and accelerate deal velocity
• Support workshop-to-project-to-managed-services conversion motions
Renewal & Lifecycle Management • Drive proactive renewal motions by surfacing licensing optimization opportunities, funding-backed modernization conversations, and Security/Copilot/AI uplift
• Enable value-led renewal discussions — replacing reactive renewals with strategic lifecycle engagement
• Contribute to churn reduction and renewal growth strategies across the portfolio
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Knowledge Management • Partner with Presales and Professional Services to ensure alignment between commercial commitments, funded engagements, and delivery execution
• Stay current on CSP/NCE changes, Microsoft licensing updates, and evolving funding programs
• Contribute to internal licensing playbooks, CoreView assessment guidance, and funding qualification checklists
• Support enablement and coaching of junior licensing and renewal team members
Must have skills Required • 3 to 5 years of experience in a Microsoft licensing or CSP role within an SMB VAR or Microsoft partner environment
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 licensing constructs (Business, E3/E5, add-ons, Copilot/AI SKUs)
• Solid understanding of New Commerce Experience (NCE) commercial rules, term structures, and seat management
• Hands-on experience running and interpreting CoreView licensing and tenant assessments
• Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft funding programs and partner-funded workshops
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable presenting to both technical and commercial audiences
• High attention to commercial detail, governance, and documentation accuracy
Preferred Certifications & Experience • MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals) or AB-900
• SC-900 (Security, Compliance & Identity Fundamentals) or AZ-900
• CoreView platform certification or equivalent hands-on experience
• Exposure to Microsoft Modern Work, Security, Copilot, or AI solution areas
• Existing relationships with Microsoft PDMs or distributor channel teams
