Make an impact with our Standards - Technical Services team as a Senior Accountant. This diverse team of professionals provides best-in-class industry and technical expertise to internally drive the success of our Assurance and Accounting practice. As a trusted advisor, you’ll advise and assist team members on financial reporting matters including interpreting and providing guidance on new accounting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside managers and Partners to deliver industry and technical expertise on a variety of technical assurance and accounting matters
  • Promote the importance of quality control in all Assurance and Accounting engagements and play a role in driving our quality initiatives
  • Research and respond to queries under ASPE, IFRS, and CAS
  • Maintain knowledge of changes in the profession through research and by attending relevant industry events and training/information session
  • Support the development and maintenance of our accounting and assurance tools and protocol
  • Assist with the development of accounting and assurance related training in MNP’s extensive in-house education programs; Opportunity to facilitate learning and development programs for Assurance and Accounting engagement team member
  • Prepare and review high-quality deliverables, including written reports, presentations, correspondence, and other technical material and
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve our work processes

Skills and Experience

  • Completion of, or working towards, a CPA designation
  • Written and verbal French and English language skills, due to frequent collaboration with English-speaking teams/clients across Canada and some client deliverables/regulatory reporting obligation are in English
  • 1 to 3 years of recent accounting and assurance related experience at a public accounting firm
  • Strong technical writing and project management skills, and an understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Demonstrate analytical research skills and critical thinking
