The Senior Corporate Accountant will assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end consolidated financial statements that are presented to the executives, owners, regulatory bodies, and other financing parties.

This includes working with subsidiaries to coordinate and maintain month end reporting deadlines and preparation of working papers that facilitate analysis and review and provide support for commentary on the results.

You will also engage in other projects and activities as is necessary to the position and as assigned. This position will be responsible to keeping current on new IFRS pronouncements, and determining how and if they impact our current reporting process.

Specific responsibilities include :

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and working papers.
  • Responsible for analysis and review of results to support commentary.
  • Responsible for drafting commentary for various statements and reports submitted to stakeholders such as executives, shareholders, owners, and financing parties.
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Participation in year-end audit of Corporate financial results, including creation of schedules to support the drafting of notes to the financial statements.
  • Responsible for coordinating deadlines with subsidiaries to ensure timeliness of reporting.
  • Lead or participate in a variety of special projects in the finance area.
  • Keeping current on new IFRS pronouncements

Our Ideal Candidate will possess :

  • Achieved designation through the Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) Program.
  • Interest and experience with current IFRS developments required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and business acumen.
  • Ability to manage in a multi-task environment.
  • Ability to use solid judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • An initiative-taker with excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains and the transportation industry considered assets.
