Job Description

This role oversees low-voltage construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with technical and safety requirements. The Project Manager collaborates closely with system installation and design teams, coordinates stakeholders, and supports the growth of the security and related project portfolios. This position offers strong career progression into larger and more complex projects, as well as exposure to security, HVAC, fire, and IMIT scopes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with system installation and design teams to plan and execute low-voltage projects effectively.
  • Delegate tasks to stakeholders and hold them accountable for meeting project deliverables, milestones, and schedule commitments.
  • Monitor project costs continuously and ensure overall project budgets remain within established parameters.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain project reports related to budgets, progress, and document control requirements.
  • Perform document control duties, including organizing, tracking, and maintaining project documentation and records.
  • Work in partnership with the project coordinator to align schedules, resources, and documentation as required.
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects within a total installed cost range of approximately $10,000 to $100,000, ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address issues, mitigate risks, and keep projects on track.
  • Leverage software tools such as MS Office, Adobe Writer, Visio, and Bluebeam to support planning, reporting, and design-related tasks.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, communication, and project outcomes.
  • Contribute to the growth of the security project portfolio and support potential crossover into HVAC, fire, and IMIT projects as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, ideally within construction or low-voltage project environments.
  • Proven experience managing projects with total installed costs in the range of approximately $10,000 to $100,000.
  • At least 2+ years of experience delivering low-voltage projects, with security systems preferred and fire or IMIT scope experience also acceptable.
  • Strong project management and construction management capabilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with low-voltage systems such as security, fire, HVAC, and IMIT.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications for reporting, documentation, and communication.
  • Experience using Adobe Writer for document preparation and editing.
  • Proficiency with Visio for diagrams and system layouts.
  • Experience using Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, and project documentation.
  • Ability to hold stakeholders accountable and drive projects to completion within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Solid organizational skills with attention to detail in document control and budget tracking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Design-build project experience, particularly in low-voltage or construction environments.
  • Security project experience, including planning and execution of security system installations.
  • AutoCAD experience for reviewing or contributing to design and layout drawings.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) are considered an asset.
  • CSPM or similar security project management certifications are considered an asset.
  • Interest in growing into larger and more complex projects over time as the project portfolio expands.
  • Ability to adapt to working across multiple disciplines, including security, HVAC, fire, and IMIT projects.
Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid work environment, combining both office and on-site project work. The typical schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7:30 . to 4:30 . The role involves overseeing approximately 26 open projects within a smaller total installed cost range, requiring regular coordination and site presence as needed. The initial period of employment will involve spending more time in the office to become familiar with systems, teams, and processes, after which working from home 2–3 days per week is available, with office attendance on the remaining days. Domestic travel is required as needed to visit project sites. Parking is available on-site, and a car is recommended as the location is not highly accessible by public transit. Personal protective equipment such as steel-toe boots is required on site, with additional PPE used as needed based on specific project requirements. The team environment is encouraging, supportive, and collaborative, with a strong focus on career development, including progression to larger projects within 1–5 years as new work is secured and continued growth of the security team.
