About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Assistant Controller to support the financial operations of our organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic decision-making through timely and reliable financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Within this role you will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (ASPE) and internal policies
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial processes
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Partner with operational teams to provide financial insights and analysis
  • Support external audits and coordinate with auditors
  • Complete internal audits and work with staff
  • Assist in system implementations, integrations, and process improvements
  • Contribute to special projects such as acquisitions, integrations, or system upgrades
  • Oversee the company expense platform (Concur)
  • Aiding in the payroll process.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required
  • Capable of lifting up to 50-pound boxes

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation required
  • At least 3-7 of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Syspro, Microsoft D365, and Tagetik is an asset)
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable with previous good attendance record
  • Reliable transportation
