Job descriptionUniversity degree in Business / Accounting; CPA designation preferred. Extensive experience in corporate accounting and financial management. Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and local financial regulations. Proficiency in Sage Accounting, MS Office, and Excel. Proven leadership and project management skills. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities. Attention to detail and ability to interpret company policies. Ability to conduct presentations and attend meetings. Use of desktop computer and peripherals required. Occasional lifting / moving of items up to 10 lbs.
About the Role
MC College is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Controller to lead our financial operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting the executive team with financial insights for decision‑making. The Controller will oversee the accounting department and collaborate closely with the President, CFO, and COO.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Oversee accounting operations : journal entries, payroll, accounts receivable / payable, tuition and retail payments.
- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and inter-account transfers.
- Maintain accurate student payment records in Student Management Software.
- Monitor and improve internal controls in collaboration with the CFO.
- Provide financial guidance and reporting to the management team.
- Handle CRA and provincial reporting and payments.
- Support implementation of new systems and strategic projects.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team.
- Collaborate with HR on hiring, training, performance reviews, and staffing needs.
