Job DetailsThe Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. Today, this area is home to many Indigenous peoples from across Turtle Island. We acknowledge that the Durham Region forms a part of the traditional and treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples and the treaty territory of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:This position will focus on providing support and overall customer satisfaction to all DDSB schools and internal clients, with an emphasis on supply chain efficiencies. - Provide support and customer service to all schools and Education Centre staff in managing purchasing inquiries.
- Supports the purchasing department in all administrative areas of the quotation and tendering process including billing/invoicing, and risk management.
- Efficiently enter purchase orders with complete accuracy. Audit and analyze data as required and support the Accounts Payable process in troubleshooting invoice errors. Review and verify charges are accurate and in accordance with the purchase order.
- Manage past due Purchase Orders and work with vendors to expedite material from suppliers. Develop expediting reports and follow up as necessary. Prepare required trend and costs analysis.
- Perform supplier market and risk analysis along with develop a framework for the Total Cost of Ownership based on supply channels.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and report to team.
- Manage and organize all price catalogues for the department, including updating the Purchasing Portal.
Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Purchasing.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Must be currently enrolled and actively working towards the completion of the Supply Chain Management Association of Canada Program (SCMA) designation and/or the Ontario Public Buyers Association (OPBA) designation.
- Diploma in Operations Management and/or a Bachelors degree in business, logistics, and/or supply chain management is required.
- Minimum of 3 years Public Sector experience is required. Knowledge of Public Procurement process and laws would be an asset.
- Strong organizational skills along with a positive, "customer service" focused attitude is a requirement.
- Ability to demonstrate strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks throughout the day and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, including trend analysis, macros/pivot tables and forecasting.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:This is a 35 hour per week, 12 month, permanent position.
