Overview

The Forklift Operatoris responsibleforutilizingaforklift to move materials around a storage yard, factory, or similar location.TheForklift Operator is also responsibleforloadingand unloadingtrucks,performing routine forklift maintenance,assistingwith inventory documentation,andsupportingfull adherence to safety compliance regulations.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Conducting pre-operation forklift inspections.

  • Operate lifting devices,i.e.forklifts, liftbeamsand swivel hooks.

  • Confirminventory transactions are complete.

  • Manually load and unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars,and lifting devices.

  • Put away received materials to proper storage locations.

  • Ability to readilydeterminethe correct tools and equipment needed to do a job.

  • Accurately ship and receive product.

  • May perform other activities such asassistingin taking inventory and weighing/checking materials.

  • Support inventory control withaccuratedocumentation.

  • Perform routine maintenance onforklifts.

  • Accurately weigh and document materials.

  • Participate in clean-up of yard and facility.

  • Perform all dutiesin accordance withSilent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Code.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a forklift operator in a warehouse/shipping environment with a valid forklift operator license.

  • Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of safe lifting and handling techniques.

  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Employeemay be exposed to uncomfortable work settings such as cold or hot weather outdoors.

  • May have combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting throughout the day.

  • Fast-paced environment.

  • Overtime asrequired.
