Scotiabank is among the largest banks in the world and is Canada’s most international bank. We are powered by high-performing (and awesome) teammates who make a real difference across the globe as a leading provider of advice, products, digital experiences, and financial services in more than 50 countries. MD Financial Management is a national wealth management firm dedicated exclusively to supporting Canada’s physicians and their families. Is this program right for you?

There has never been a better time to join MD Financial Management as a Wealth Management Associate.

The Wealth Management Associate Program is a salaried development program aimed at developing sales and entrepreneurial-minded individuals into a Wealth Advisory role. The program offers a strong foundation in financial planning, relationship building, and client discovery- skills that are highly valued in Advisory careers. We welcome applicants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds who are eager to make a meaningful difference in clients’ lives.

Do you have the skills that will help you succeed? – We’d love to work with you if:

  • You're completing an undergraduate or master’s degree by January 2027, or you are a recent graduate with less than 5 years of experience and have developed a passion for helping others achieve their financial goals.

  • You’re excited about building a long‑term career in Wealth Advisory

  • You’re naturally curious, thoughtful, and collaborative, and you enjoy solving problems that matter to people.

  • You’re adaptable, open to feedback, and motivated to grow.

  • You remain positive and resilient when faced with challenges.

  • You have strong communication and relationship management skills; the ability to build and maintain strong collaborative client and internal/ external partner relationships.

  • You are organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.

  • You’re entrepreneurial‑minded and energized by helping clients navigate important life decisions in a sales advisory capacity

  • You remain positive and resilient when faced with challenges.

  • You can demonstrate an ability to influence, persuade, and build consensus

  • You keep current on issues affecting the financial affairs of clients, including a general knowledge of income tax, investment trends and products, as well as any other issues impacting clients.

  • You are interested in client meeting preparation, drafting post meeting notes and identifying next opportunities, gathering and inputting financial data resulting from discovery conversations.

  • You are interested in the preparation of comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies based on MD Management developed and managed optimal portfolio ranges

Note: You do not need to meet 100% of these criteria to be a strong candidate. We encourage all interested applicants—from all communities—to apply.

What’s in it for you?

  • A comprehensive training and development experience that provides a thorough understanding of Scotiabank’s Wealth Advisory businesses and Total Wealth Planning approach. Your growth is our top priority, and you will be supported through formal web‑based and in‑person training, on‑the‑job learning, educational speaker events, professional development opportunities, and ongoing mentorship throughout the program.

  • Opportunities within the Wealth Advisory businesses to gain exposure as to how these areas apply to an overall wealth strategy for a client’s life.

  • Placement in a MD Financial Management office to work with wealth teams to gain relevant and practical experience, complementary training, and support to help prepare you to attain licensing requirements associated with transitioning into a Wealth Management Advisory role.

  • Ongoing support during the Program through various touch points with the Program Lead, Total Wealth Planning leaders, and your local Manager.

  • A compensation program with competitive salary, opportunities for annual performance incentives based on performance thresholds, a flexible benefits program, and continuing education programs.

How do I apply?

For candidates applying to our new graduate programs, we do not require resumes! We believe in evaluating you through relationships over resumes and are focused on learning about who you are and what you’re interested in to uncover your true potential. Instead, we ask that as part of your application you complete the below:

  • Complete your PLUM Profile and save as a screenshot.

  • Complete a short one-way video interview .

  • Apply to the role and when the application asks for your resume, instead upload the screenshot of your PLUM Profile.
