Job Title: Sanitation Worker
Job Description

The Sanitation Worker maintains a clean, safe, and organized food production environment while production lines are actively running. This role involves regular use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, repetitive lifting, and working in a cool-temperature facility. The position also supports the packaging line as needed and follows strict sanitation and safety procedures to ensure high standards of cleanliness and food safety.

Responsibilities

  • Keep all areas of the production floor clean, organized, and free of debris.
  • Collect and remove garbage from the production floor and designated areas.
  • Use approved cleaning chemicals to wash and sanitize floors, surfaces, equipment, bins, tools, and other production-related items.
  • Learn, follow, and consistently apply established sanitation procedures to clean and sanitize equipment and floors while production is running.
  • Stock and replenish sanitation supplies at designated stations around the production floor.
  • Maintain hygiene-focused areas such as footbaths and other hygiene zones to ensure proper use and cleanliness.
  • Operate cleaning and production-related machinery safely, following all safety protocols.
  • Work safely with cleaning chemicals and water, using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Lift and carry buckets of water (approximately 35 kg) and metal trays (approximately 10 kg) repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Stand, lift, and move continuously for up to 8 hours in a fast-paced environment.
  • Help on the packaging line when required to support production and meet operational needs.
  • Ensure the facility remains clean, organized, and compliant with food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with team members in English to follow instructions and report issues.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of safety goggles and other protective gear for the entire shift.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to stand, lift, and move continuously for an 8-hour shift in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs very repetitively in a work setting, with verifiable experience performing similar physical tasks.
  • Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and water as part of daily duties.
  • Ability to lift and carry buckets of water weighing approximately 35 kg on a regular basis.
  • Ability to lift metal trays weighing approximately 10 kg repetitively.
  • Good English communication skills to understand instructions and work safely.
  • Comfort working in a food production facility at temperatures of approximately 8–10 degrees Celsius.
  • Willingness and ability to wear safety goggles for the entire shift.
  • Comfort working in a very multicultural environment and collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Possession of steel toe work boots for use on the production floor.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Experience working on a packaging line or in a packaging role.
  • Prior sanitation experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or food-processing setting.

Work Environment

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility with numerous conveyors and machines running continuously, creating a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The production area is maintained at a cool temperature of approximately 8–10 degrees Celsius, and you will work around water, cleaning chemicals, and active production lines. The culture is very multicultural, with team members from diverse backgrounds working closely together. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday from 2:30 . to 11:00 ., with opportunities for overtime. The dress code includes steel toe work boots, lab coats, hair nets, gloves, and beard nets if needed, with no jewelry allowed, and you must wear safety goggles for the entire shift to ensure compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.

The pay range for this position is $19.10 - $19.10/hr.
